I’m a current junior that is concerned about my chances of admission at UW.
Intended Major:
Computer Science (I know I won’t get DA’d)
Stats:
SAT: 1410
GPA: 4.0 UW / ~4.1 W (both are projected for next semester as well)
2 AP Classes - Junior Year (AP Phys 1 and AP Lang/Comp) + UW Precalculus/No prior AP classes in sophomore or freshman year
ECs:
Where I’m mostly worried about - I haven’t been too involved with school activities. I’ve joined two clubs this year but for sophomore and freshman years my time has been spent self-studying coding and other related at-home activities.
I believe that my essays (as of my current writing skills) are at a 6-7/10.
Your grades & SAT are fine to excellent.
Depending upon your math score on the SAT, you may want to bolster that area by taking an AP or SAT subject test (if UW will consider them) since you want to get directly admitted into the Computer Science major.
I don’t know for certain, but are school activities an important consideration for admission to UW ?
In short, you are a very well qualified candidate for admission to UW-Seattle, in my opinion.
From what I know the UW doesn’t consider SAT II tests, and my SAT breakdown is: 720 R/W and 690 Math. And I believe school activities are a secondary factor (as opposed to GPA and Essays) in holistic admissions. Thank you for the reply!
Assuming that your scores are from the new version of the SAT with enhanced (inflated or recentered) scores, then consider retaking after prepping for the math portion if you want CS.
