UW Class of 2018 Decisions + Stats Thread

Because the other "official" thread is more of a pre-decisions discussion thread, I figured I would start one of these so we can compare stats.

Do running start. AP isn’t worth it and too “expected”. Everyone does it and it means nothing. I only had a 3.4 gpa but because I sacrificed so much to skip 2 yrs of HS and do Running Start, I was accepted. Honestly, AP is a waste, too many kids do it. How many freshmen applicants do you think are coming in with 96 credits and their Associate’s degree completed? Probably no more than MAYBE 10?? 20?? I stood out because of Running Start, if not I would have been stuck at WSU. With Running Start you get guaranteed college credit, no AP exam crap.

Which follows pretty well into my stats, as I didn’t have any AP’s either (although my school doesn’t offer them - go Eastside Preparatory School! )

Accepted

Stats:[ul]
[]SAT: 2140 - 640CR/770M/710W (Oct 2013), 2170 - 640CR/740M/770W (Dec 2013)
[]SAT II: 800 math 2, 750 Molecular Bio (Does UW consider these?)
[]ACT: 34 - 35E/34M/30R/36S/10W - Interestingly, I got this after having prepared extensively for the SAT with minimal practice to understand the differences of the ACT.
[]GPA: 3.99 unweighted
[]Rank: N/A
[]Other Tests (AP, IB): Calculus AB - 4 but no AP classes because my school doesn’t offer them (which is definitely for the better)

[/ul]Subjective[ul]
[]Essays: Creative and original - the first one describes my experience with my fitness trainer and how working out with him has taught me not to give up and also shaped me into a more open-minded person. The diversity essay described how I think in class in ways that are unique, and a cultural experience I had in my travels that taught me that contributing diversity is simply about being open and having fun with others. They weren’t anything revolutionary but I’d say I’m a pretty solid writer.
[]Extracurriculars/Jobs: Leader of chess club for all years of high school, piano for 8 years, creating educational YouTube videos with Kerbal Space Program to demonstrate orbital mechanics and stuff for 2 years, various community service activities including Spanish student tutoring, and fitness training for 5 years which I went into detail about in the essay. So I have a leadership position but I’m not super-active, but then again I did dedicate a lot of my extracurricular time to a few things I am passionate about which is what admissions officers look for more.
[]Awards: Nope
