I was wondering if anyone knows the typical notification dates for UW CSE for the fall applications. I may move out of state to a different program if I’m denied from CompE and the semester schools start August 15…not much time after the July 1 application deadline!
Late July, typically around July 20-22
I just got an email back from CSE admissions:
“In regard to the notification period, it is more than likely that you will hear back in July rather than June. Unfortunately, I cannot give an exact timeline but we have been known to admit students all the way through the end of July.”
@CompSci18 CSE applicants do not have to submit the application for the department right?
@thaipq if you are already a UW student or re-enrolling from a previous student, then you must apply to CSE by July 1. If you did the normal transfer application you shouldn’t need to reapply.
@desunaito Thank you!
@thaipq nope! You only had to do a general application.
Does anyone know how many slots would the CSE department offer in Fall?
@thaipq --> This what I got from the UW CSC faqs.
How many undergraduates do you admit to the major?
Currently, around 300 students per year are accepted into the CSE department. This includes both Computer Science and Computer Engineering. The CSE Admissions Committee reviews all applications together, so both majors are equally competitive. Approximately 30 percent of all applicants are accepted. Because the department has multiple application cycles, many people apply more than once, and applicant numbers vary each quarter. Although CSE tends to have more applicants in the autumn, the standards of admission are roughly the same for both the autumn and spring quarters.
