I'm an OOS that was accepted to UW, but I can't find time to visit before May 1. Can anyone who has visited tell me what it's like at both the school and Seattle?

I personally love it there. UW is definitely a huge school, with a large campus, so keep that in mind. I’ve heard that if you don’t find yourself a niche, some people tend to feel lost and engulfed in the large size of the school. With that aside, needless to say, the campus and the city are gorgeous. I’m from a beach community in Southern CA so I’m not used to the city AT ALL but I think it will be a great atmosphere to live in. The UW is about 10 minutes from downtown, and I believe some students go into the city for Seattle Seahawks games and the Mariners baseball games. The public transportation system is so good it is unreal. Students get discounts on bus systems/trains. Right adjacent to campus is what everyone calls “the Ave” (University Avenue) that has many food places, a few clothing stores, and if I’m not mistaken, a small movie theater. Also, when I went, there was construction going on to build another dorm. My dad’s advice says that is good when there is construction; it shows the school has disposable money. Some of the dorms are nicer than others, and I think getting advice for which one on this forum would be your best bet. I know the stadium is being redone, so I was unable to see that or the fitness center, but from what I’ve heard, they’re both very nice. Lastly, I know socially, the Greek system is popular if that is the type of experience you’re looking for. Hopefully this helps you and good luck with your college decisions!

It’s kind of sad with the husky stadium renovation that all football games will be at Centurylink field :(

@StanfordGirl22 at least it won’t be for our last year :)

^^thats a good way to look at it:)

“The Ave” is actually University WAY. And for that reason it makes almost no sense to call it The Ave, yet that is almost its more official name.
