UW Direct Admit

I got my letter of acceptance to UW but I didnt get a 'confirmation slip', does that mean Im not in?

Also, i applied for 1st major as CSE and 2nd major as EE. If I don't get into CSE Direct admit, will I be considered for EE direct admit?
Bc I recently had a change of heart and want to go into EE instead of CSE .. Should I tell the school or will they automatically consider me for EE?

What does it say on your unofficial transcript? Are you a pre-science/pre-eng, or does it list CS/CE/EE?

Also, EE will consider you automatically even if you list it as your second choice.

@speedsolver mine says pre-engineering right now. Does that mean im FOR SURE not a direct admit or are they still deciding?

I don’t know if the admissions committee is still deciding or not. I know they usually do a huge round of admissions during our Spring Break (next week) since this is when they have some current UW students applying to get into the major.

1) I won’t say FOR SURE not a direct admit because I don’t know what the advisors are doing right now.
2) Official notices come out early April. If you don’t receive anything by then, you can message the advisors and ask if they’ve already sent them out. If so, then not direct admit.
3) SOMETIMES, and I stress sometimes, the direct admit admissions doesn’t yield as many direct admits as the departments want, so they offer 1-3 more spots to a few more students. However, this is in ~May and you’d have to have committed to UW by then.

Wait, so if it says on my unofficial transcript that I am a Computer Science major, does that mean that I’m a direct admit??? I’ve gotten no other letter or email besides the initial acceptance letter.

We’re guessing that is the case. This is the first year the departments that did direct admit for a competitive major have had their majors show up on unofficial transcripts rather than after students ‘accept’ UW/major.

Official notifications come from the department in early April. Keep your fingers crossed!

@speedsolver Thank you!

I just got a notification for Computer Science DA, so I think they should start trickling out soon.

Congrats! Be sure to come to our direct admit visit day!

I might be there, depending on how it’s scheduled around my classes this quarter. :)

Could you tell us how your notification arrived? Letter? With admissions packet? Email? Thanks!

I got an email.

anybody heard back from UW for Direct Admit ? My welcome packet states major
as pre-eng. I hear conflicting stories about DA. Some say the welcome packet states your major . Some say UW will notify in the first 2 weeks of April if you are a Direct Admit. Someone please clarify. Totally confused!

My unofficial transcript and admission letter both say pre-science. I’m aiming to be a comp sci major. If this means that I won’t be a direct admit to CSE then I’m hesitant to attend given the competitive nature of being selected for the major. Fingers crossed, but I would definitely love to know for sure what’s up.

As an applicant to UW’s Computer Engineering major, I carefully monitored all of my MyUW components to see if I got into CSE as a DA student.

The first thing I did was check the unofficial transcript when it became available; this had me listed as a Computer Engineering major in the College of Engineering.

A week or so later (March 25th) I received an email from the School of CSE saying that I had been admitted DA. Three or four days later (not sure, as I was not home at the time) I received postal mail with a formal packet about CSE as well as my CSE adviser’s card.

This is just a summary of how I found out. I am not sure if there is variance in this among other DA students or if the timing of the notifications varies.

Hope this helps!
