UW = good for electrical/software engineering?

Hey,

I was wondering if UW is good for EE or software engineering, which is something I'm developing an interest in as of late. I've heard a ton about UW's aeronautical engineering program since its funded by NASA or whatever, but do major companies still recruit at UW for EE/SE, or would I want to look elsewhere?

Also, how are the sports teams at UW? I know the men's football and basketball teams suck now (no offense, but they aren't doing so well anymore), but what are the other sports teams people watch/are popular?

thanks

come on guys, I could use your help right now...

Btw, I'm actually thinking about going into IT consulting, so can anyone comment on UW for that field?

I can't speak about those programs personally, but if you'd like to talk with someone who is in EE or software engineering, send me a PM and I'll get you in touch with someone who is. As for recruiting, UW has several major job fairs throughout the year (usually at least one per quarter). The majority of these recruiters are looking for students in those fields. Of course, you can always find jobs and internships through the Center for Career Services. You will have plenty of opportunities in Seattle as many major companies are represented at the career fairs. As for IT consulting, I know some people who can help you out with that.

Sports, on the other hand, are still very much popular on campus. The men's basketball team did not live up to the extremely high expectations last year, but they will still be a competitive team (even without Spencer Hawes). As for football, the debut of highly-touted QB Jake Locker this fall and the return of RB Louis Rankin will make for a solid football season. Football and basketball, while they have not done as well in the recent past, are on the rise. Other than those two, the women's basketball team has done well recently, and the men's crew team won the 2007 National Championship. The women's volleyball team finished the season ranked number 4 in the nation with a 29-5 record. Most people just watch men's basketball and football, but there are plenty of other sports to watch like the ones I've listed above.

yeah but the question is are they popular? I mean it would still be fun to go to games just because of atmosphere, so yeah.

btw, please set me up with that guy you're talking about...I really want to know more.

Yeah, the games are always packed with fans. Tickets for men's basketball are always sold out. Don't worry, the sports atmosphere is alive and well at UW.

As for more info on EE, please send me an email or PM so I can forward it to the right people.

If UW doesn't seem to quite be the right fit for EE, you might look into WSU -- Washinton State University.

baseball and crew teams are usually pretty good
