Hey guys,
Today i picked up my transcript from the counseling office and my heart instantly sank..
My weighted GPA is a 3.9, however, my Unweighted is a... 3.1

Is such a gap between UW and W normal? What do colleges think of this gap? What does this mean for a Tier 2 hopeful?

My ACT is 32 and my ECs are great.

It’s hard to tell because we don’t know if you weighted GPA is on a 5.0 or 6.0 scale. I suspect the former.

Colleges are going to focus on the unwtd GPA and the rigor of the courses you took and the grades you got in those tough courses.

Your ACT is stronger than your 3.1, so that’s going to help, as are the ECs.

Without knowing the number of AP courses you’ve taken and the grades you rec’d in them, as well as the Tier 2 colleges you have in mind and your intended major, there’s no way of predicting your chances.

Have you run any net price calculators on these schools and gotten a firm number from your parents?

I agree with jk, we need more info about you. However I am wondering why you would superised with your UW Gpa ? I assume you are a sr in hs, so for the past three years have you been getting those reports? You must know that you have been getting mostly B’s in your class. If that is the fact, you can’t be dreaming of first tier colleges, but going to second tier colleges is not the end of the world, in college you still have chances to catch up. If you become the top student in a college you will go places. Don’t give up.
