Opened the mailbox today to see a white envelope from UW Honors Program. Inside of it was an acceptance letter dated March 23, 2012. I guess they decided to send the letters a little bit earlier than normal this year, since normally they send it from April 1st - April 15th.

Congrats! Do you live in Washington? I’m waiting anxiously for my honors decision but I’m oos:(

Thanks! And yes, I do live in Washington. Actually I am about a 15 minute drive from the UW.

Congrats, litokhmaikid!

Me too!
I’m super excited!
Congrats!

grats :)

Hey for those of you who have been accepted to honors, has anything changed for you on UW portal or your unofficial transcript? I’m still waiting :(…

piggybacking on what stanfordgirl inquired- for those of you accepted ( huge congrats!) when you go to register for you advising and orientation, is an honors option given, or simply the general interest? The link on the main page says that honors options only are shown for those accepted to the program. I haven’t seen anything yet online( but also haven’t checked the mailbox lately…)

Thanks! And @stanfordgirl22 @Moooah, there seems to be nothing different on MyUW or on my official transcript.

What is honors and how is that different from “regular” admission? What are the benefits of it?

I also got in (live in WA, close to Seattle).
I’m also wondering what benefits the honors program has; I know you get special housing/first choice for classes, but I’ve heard it’s basically a “GPA killer.”
Anyone in the honors program or familiar with it that has more perspective?

My daughter got on the honors wait-list. It seems that this is an unlikely scenario, since they send out way more notifications than honors slots.
ANy experience with the honors wait list?
She is bummed, her stats were good, and her sister got in 4 years ago
3.98 unweighted, 4 ap classes
sports (captain on year) quite a few extracurriculars
SAT was a little on the low side, about 1900

I’m surprised that more people haven’t heard about their honors decisions yet? Do you think they have even sent the bulk of the letters? I haven’t heard of any OOS honors letters…

wait listed, Guess i only have a 16% of getting in now. Gotta wait another month…

Any gut feeling as to what percentage of applicants have heard back yet? There’s a group of five or so of us NMF in Pullman quietly freaking out because we haven’t heard a thing…

Just got my acceptance in the mail today too

I have kind of an interesting story that came along with mine:
As soon as I got my Welcome packet and paid the NSEOF, I went to register for the A&O that includes the rafting trip. When I tried to do it online, an error page kept coming up. Worried that I would miss out on the opportunity of the trip, I called the First Year Programs office and told them what was going on. At this point, I had no idea that Honors would fit in with the registration process in any way, shape, or form. Got put on hold by a really nice lady, and when she came back on the phone, she told me, “Good News! There happens to be an Honors A&O that you can go to right before the dates of the rafting trip!”

This was confusing to me, because I didn’t understand why I would attend the exclusive A&O. I expressed that to the lady, and she became all hush hush and told me to e-mail her and that she’d get back to me.

Three days later, no answer from nice FYP lady, so I call the person actually in charge of the Outdoor A&O sessions. She asks me for my name/student number, and she tells me that the reason that I’m unable to register is because I’m affiliated with the Honors Program. “Oh,” I say. “Wait you didn’t know that? Oh crap…well you are”.

So that’s basically how I found out that I was either going to accepted or wait listed, lol. At one point I started being paranoid that “affiliated” implied that I applied, not that I was being considered, but now it’s official!

Maybe all of those worried can do the same little hack and get the same clue ;)

The Honors A&O isn’t that exclusive, it just means that there’s honors advisers there. You’re with everyone else until Day 2 of A&O, when you meet with Honors advisers instead of non-Honors advisers. They can tell you more about planning your 4 years while you’re in the program.

ACCEPTED!

I can’t even believe it. I was slightly surprised to get accept to UW in general with only a 1830 SAT, but I’m completely shocked to be accepted to the honors program. This is such great news after getting some not so great news earlier this week.

Quick question though, I didn’t get enough financial aid and I heard that honors students were automatically considered for some honors scholarships. How would we know if we got said scholarship. Would it have come with the honors acceptance letter?

Also, I’m out of state (OOS) for those of you who were curious about that; but, don’t be too worried if you haven’t heard back yet. I’m from Oregon so it makes sense that I got my letter at the same time as some Washington people.

-- sister of whitehouses

Got my letter in the mail today I’m out of state as well (from California). I also have WhiteHouses’s question…does that mean that neither of us were offered anything?

I haven’t received my honors letter yet but I paid NSEOF. However i still can’t access the registration for A&O sessions? Is anyone else getting the access denied error? Does it have to do with the honors A&O session?
