UW housing

Housing assignment letters are being sent out. Received my son's - but we're in Madison.

oh cool! so they're sending out roommate information too?

Yes, I've got mine yesterday! Bradley was my first choice and that's where I was assigned to. First happy news in a couple of months.

Ogg for me :)

Ogg.... wasnt my first choice..... but whatever.

im in adams...

in chadbourne

kronshage....

still didnt get mine..still waiting

I'm in Chadbourne also

by the way how many of you got your first preference choice hall?

I got Smith, my #1 choice

I got my #1 choice too, but I don't know if that had to do with whether or not I was in the honors program or I just got lucky.

I got my second choiuce-- ILC Adams

choice

I'm in Tripp... i think it was like my sixth choice

I don't know if honors program has anything to do with it because I didnt get my first choice although I'm in it...but I got my second so I'm not soooo sure

in sellery

I think the random assignment system is bad, because it just doesnt depend on when a student sends in his/her contract but rather it depends on a computer which will eventually shuffle everyone, so even if you have sent in your contract long ago, your priority might be last in the pool of students. Also it doesnt really make sense that you have to send in your deposit by 1 st May because anyways you are not sure if you will be on the top or bottom of the assignment list.

What do you people think??

its not perfect but i think the random system is ok. it takes different lengths of time for mail to go to and from the university and the random system gives everyone an equal chance to get the dorm they want regardless of where they live.
