UW-Mad vs. UMN-T.C.

Hello to all. I have been accepted at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I have ruled out UMich due to the outrageous out-of-state tuition, and am now considering either UMN, or UW. I plan on studying life sciences, most likely ecology, with the possibility of entering medical school. I was wondering what you all feel is a better school in terms of:
a. Academics, in general and in terms of the life sciences
b. Research Opportunities
c. Social Life

Thanks for your time.

Do you live in Wisconsin or Minnesota?

a. Wisconsin has some of the top environmental/life science depts in the country

b. ESPECIALLY in sciences, pleanty of research

c. Although the T.C.'s are fun, Madison is considered one of the best college towns, if not THE BEST, in the country.

I am guessing you're in state and there is a reason why top students in MN/WI pick Madison...

Wisconsin wins in all three departments...but Minnesota ain't that bad either.

If you are a MN or WI resident, you pay in-state for both so cost is not an issue.

Agreed with Alexandre that Wisconsin wins in all three categories, by a sizeable margin ... especially in C.

K, thanks all

Wisconsin wins all three

Wisconsin residents actually pay less at UMN - TC than Minnesota residents do, I think.

I just got the pamphlet thing today.

Definitely Wisconsin

Madtown all the way

hysteron- I think MN residents pay the same as WI residents at U of M. I think the difference is that MN residents pay more at UW than WI residents do at U of M. I'd have to check on that though.

You pay what you would have paid instate at the other school--if you are from Minn going to UW you pay instate Minn tuition and so on. Minn instate is higher than UW instate.
