two of my daughters classmates-got into wisco-with zero intention of going…why accept candidates like this when you know it’s a safety-how is this protecting their yield???
How would WI know that they have no intention of going?
My acceptance letter only mentions the college I’ve been admitted to but not the major. However, on my admissions status page, it says academic plan: psychology and application status: admitted. Does this mean I have gotten in through Psychology?
Wisconsin offers very little merit aid if any. You can apply for scholarships in their scholarship portal but that too is very limited. The philosophy is to fill the out of state slots with full pay students.

Yes it is a direct admit. You can open the decision letter to see the college below.
They don’t. Wisconsin really doesn’t do the yield game. There are tons of kids with 35/36 act who choose Madison. It’s likely the major and strategic focus of the university (male/female, too many from NJ, etc) simply doesn’t match w a candidate yet. Yet.
wow
How can you tell if it’s direct?
on the left of the page it says:
Fall 2022-2023
Undergraduate
General Course - BS Degree
UW-Madison
in the middle of the page it says:
Application Date
10/30/2021
Academic Plan
Computer Sciences BS
Application Status
Admitted
in the decision letter it only mentions admitted to College of Letters and Science
Is this another soft reject or you have to declare CS major later?
3.8 and 32…deferred
Yes it does. The academic plan will list your major
Compared to others could be major specific. Harder to get into certain majors BY FAR. Then add things like male/female, geographic balance of that school/major, that’s the “crapshoot’ part bc no one knows who else was admitted or what strategic element the school is driving towards at that level. But if every other part is the same, truly a crapshoot.
Is the academic plan referring to the major you applied or admitted to?
is this year a $ grab for out of state students?
and when’s the date for decisions on deferreds?
March 25th
For all college apps we have ever done, once admitted, the academic plan reflects what you were admitted for. Including wisconsin. Is there a chance of an outlier or error? Always.
