UW Madison Foreign Language Requirement

Hello, am currently a junior in high school and will soon be entering my senior year. My dream colleges is Wisconsin Madison and i have the gpa and test scores to get accepted. However, there is one minor problem. I dont have the language requirement completed yet. I took 8th and 9th grade spanish ( up to spanish 2 and completed) and then dropped it after freshman year thinking i only would need two years for when i went off to college. I am planning to learn spanish over this summer and take Spanish 3 my senior year to fulfill the requirement.
Would this work/be okay?
Can i still apply this summer, and if accepted would UW just check back on my completion of the course after acceptance?
-Thank you. Any answer is immensley appreciated.

When you apply if they ask your Sr year schedule then any requirements will be counted. Just make sure you do some good prep this summer so you pass that class.

It would be fine if you fulfill the requirement in senior year.

Okay, this is what I assumed. Thanks guys!
Oh, another quick question; whats a good video/book for picking up on Espanol again?

watch soaps on close captioned Univision or Telemundo!

See if your local public library has free access to Mango.

GL!

That should be fine. If you feel really confident, you could even take the AP test. I think Wisconsin takes 3s.

^Why in the world would anyone advise someone to take an AP FL exam with only 3 years of study? Very bad advice.

Ehhh… I am from Wisconsin, so I know a lot of people who have dreams of going to Madison. You’ve sorta dug yourself into a hole. Even though it’s two years of required language, most people actually need four years (of the same language!) to get in. It’s the unspoken rule of sorts. It truly depends on what type of student you are-- if you are above average for the applicant pool they may overlook it, but if you are part of the rest of the students with a 28 on the ACT, a couple of ECs, it may hurt you.
