The article states this may mean more applications. The UW application will still be used and it won’t make any difference to admissions which one is used. Still need to do the UW specific essays. I’m not sure it is a good thing. I’d expect more delays in decisions unless they also hire more people in admissions. Frankly I think it is too easy for potential college students to apply to too many places without thoroughly thinking about it. I doubt it will improve the quality of applicants but instead increase the numbers of those who wouldn’t have bothered and may not attend if admitted anyway.
