UW-Madison or UC San Diego for Bus/Econ?

Hello to the CC community. I was admitted to both UW-Madison and UC San Diego. I would like to know what you guys think of both of the schools. I would like to major in Business, which I guess Madison is much stronger (with their business school) than San Diego. However, SD has a really nice campus and the location is amazing. If I choose SD, then I might need to take Economics instead. What do you guys think when comparing both of the schools in terms of their reputation, academics, location, the standard of living, campus life. Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated…

Net price and debt at each?

Are you a direct admit to the Wisconsin School of Business?

Money is not the problem. I’m OOS for both schools…

I got Pre-Business. Is it hard to get into the business school in the first year?

You can take Econ while taking business classes at UW.

I recommend you do some more research. Start here: https://wsb.wisc.edu/programs-degrees/undergraduate-bba/admissions/uw-madison-students

Then look at the BBA admissions policies: https://wsb.wisc.edu/programs-degrees/undergraduate-bba/admissions/policies

It isn’t entirely clear if admission is guaranteed if one meets all of the requirements or if it’s competitive admission. Seems that is something you would really want to know, so call/email to find out.

I also got into UW-Madison for pre-business, and it’s also one of my top schools. When I visited, they said 40-60% of students who apply to the business school are accepted, it differs each year. The average gpa is 3.3-3.9, which is a really large range. It was intimidating because admissions made it sound really competitive. I wouldn’t worry about not getting in, coming from oos, you are a strong student. The business school is great and if UCSD doesn’t have a true business school, I’d go with Wisconsin since you can go with econ if business happens to not work out. The location can’t be beat, the campus is on a lake and Madison is an amazing town.
