UW only accepts 20% of OOS?!!

Hi,

I went to a UW campus visit/informational session today, and I'm pretty sure I heard them say that they only admit 20% of the people from OOS, which seems ridiculous to me because that would put them on the same level as UVa, UCB/UCLA, etc. level, which they are definately not. In fact, that would make it harder than UCLA which accepts 27% of OOSers. Can anyone clarify this, because the only thing I can think of is that I confused it with the ratio of instate to OOS applications, but I'm pretty sure it was the former.

thanks

This is what I found in the website:
Entering Transfer Students: Washington residents 80.1%

They probably meant to say 20% of entering students are OOS, not they accept 20% of OOS applicants.

im sure planky is right,

That 80.1 stat is for transfer students....

According to collegeboard.com, the Univ. of Washington is composed of:
"

* 77% In-state students
* 23% Out-of-state students"

That seems to be the 20% number they were referring to. Not admissions.
