I know this has probably been debated many times. But I am just curious since I have acceptances at both.(transfer student)
I was accepted Mechanical at UW and Chemical engineering at WSU. I currently am more interested in Chemical Engineering, and on top of that, WSU has offered me(scholarships and grants) ~19500. On top of that and my awards from external scholarships, I have a total of ~22000 coming to WSU, which means I will spend approximately 7-8k a year at WSU.
At UW, I still haven't gotten my aid award, but I guarantee that I will shell out at least double that of WSU since rent is much, more in Seattle.

But is WSU worth it if I have a chance to go to UW? My family has told me to go to UW since its much more prestigious, ranked higher, and holds a lot more respect than WSU. Not to mention that it will probably offer more opportunities than WSU.
Personally, I feel if I go to WSU and don't like ChemE, and switch out, it wouldn't have been worth it, since I only want to go to WSU b/c I got into ChemE.
How does WSU really compare to UW now?

Any help is appreciated.
