I was having trouble with deciding whether to choose between university of washington or western washington university. I have been accepted to western washington and i am going to apply to university of washington soon. I want to eventually go to medical school. western washington has my program of choice and uw does not. I also recieved a 2k scholarship from western. A few of my friends are also going there but my family would like to see me go to uw. western has smaller class sizes and it would be easier to get letter of recs, but there are not a lot of volunteer or research oppurtunities. Uw is a big school with a lot of oppurtunities but it is harder to get LOR's. If someone can give me there opinion of what i should do, i would appreciate it.

How does cost factor into your decision? UW costs twice as much as WWU.

I don’t understand how you are going to apply to UW soon. Haven’t all the deadlines long passed?

Cost is not a factor. Also i am going to apply for winter quarter instead of fall at uw

What’s the program that you are interested in taking at WWU?

I believe you are right about UW having more research opportunities, and of course there is the connection to the large medical center. I don’t know, though, whether it is easy to get those connections as an undergraduate.

It seems that your decision is not just UW vs WWU, but rather that a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Are you confident you’ll receive an admission offer from UW for the winter quarter? Admissions there have become extremely competitive, especially this year. When will you find out? Will it be too late to accept the offer at Western? Since finances are not an issue, can you deposit at Western while you wait to hear from UW?

Have you visited Western? Is it possible to talk with a professor in the department that interests you, to find out more about research opportunities?
