UW Pre-Engineering

Hi,

Just wanted to know how hard it is to get into the computer engineering program at UW if I’ve been admitted as pre-engineering. I know that admission is based off of freshman year GPA.
Also wanted to know how good the program is, in comparison to colleges like UCSD/UCLA/etc.

Thanks!

Which UW?

Washington: https://www.engr.washington.edu/current/admissions/admitstats
Wisconsin: (probably not, since it now admits to major, but needs high GPAs to stay in the major) https://www.engr.wisc.edu/academics/student-services/academic-advising/first-year-undergraduate-students/progression-requirements/ (note: for computer science, see https://www.cs.wisc.edu/academics/undergraduate-programs/cs-major-requirements )
Wyoming: website gives no indication on criteria for entering computer engineering major, so ask department directly

What net price are you looking at for each school that you got into?

U of Washington engineering is top notch, but it can be hard to get into the program. If you’re confident that you’ll achieve the necessary GPA during your freshman year, then go for it. Engineering is tough just about everywhere.

@ucbalumnus im talking UW at Seattle and thanks for the links! i got the purple and gold scholars thing + financial aid through loans, so i get a little over $50K/year at UW. UCSD = ~$30K. UT Austin = ~$54K. Georgia Tech = ~$47K

@LakeWashington thanks for the info! yeah i dont know if the risk is worth it to be honest
