UW Seattle Appeal

I have a average GPA of 2.7 I got rejected by UW but that’s my DREAM SCHOOL!!! I think I got rejected because of my junior year grades. What are my chances of getting in if I do a appeal

It really depends. Your GPA is quite low, but they do not have a minimum requirement. You will need to have exceptional ecs, test scores, and show a real drive and passion for what you are doing.

Appeals are generally meant for those who had something major that wasn’t listed on the application.Your GPA is quite low for UW, even if you are in-state. An appeal means that they will look over your application again and see the 2.7 GPA again. If your appeal is simply that UW is your dream school, the chance that their decision will be overturned is unlikely. If you had some sort of crisis or family situation that impacted your grades, then it could result in a reversal in decision, but again, your GPA is in the lower quartile, so external events may not be enough.

The answers you got in your other thread about this were pretty accurate. Your overall GPA is well below their average and you’re failing English, so I wouldn’t expect an appeal to be successful. You don’t really have anything to base an appeal on anyway. Appeals are usually done because information in the app was incorrect. Lots of kids really want to go to UW Seattle, but that’s not reason enough to appeal and the college doesn’t have time to reconsider every applicant they rejected. It’s really time to move on.

Where else have you been accepted? Are any of those schools affordable?

UW 2017 Common Data Set unweighted GPA of enrolled freshmen:

3.75 to 4.00: 68.37%
3.50 to 3.74: 23.58%
3.25 to 3.49: 5.36%
3.00 to 3.24: 2.06%
Below 3.0: 0.63%

According to your other thread, you failed English 101 in Running Start. That’s enough to get kids rescinded. It’s not going to get you anywhere on an appeal. You need more than one good quarter to even have a chance.

When are Appeal decisions made, is there deadline?

HI, I looked this up as well and there is NOT a deadline, however the sooner you turn it in, the less likely you are to have to pay to accept at another school (national date for this is May 1st). Remember that it takes about 4 weeks to get an answer back on your appeal. Additionally I have heard that the sooner you turn it in, the more likely you are to be accepted, but I am not sure if that is true or not.

Hi. I got rejected from UW Masters HCDE program. It is my dream school. GPA 3.4 and four years of relevant working experience. I have appealed. What are the chances of the appeal being positive for grad courses?

honestly UWS is getting harder and harder to get into. you really need excellent stats to get in nowadays… & still it is NO guarentee you will get into your departmental major… leaving you to just be taking classes at a whim with out knowing if you will be able to study what you want. reconsider other colleges, uw is outrageous in this way.
