Hello everyone,

I have a question about the personal statements used in UW applications. I have already written one personal statement as I applied to UW Seattle for Summer 2013. I am thinking of applying to UW Bothell, and I want to get some advice this time in crafting my personal statement for that application.

UW Bothell does not have the major I applied to at UW, which is the Gender, Womens and Sexuality Studies (GWSS) major. My personal statement was tuned to this major. I may be able to reuse portions of my previous personal statement, but I also feel that I would do well to start from scratch.

Does anyone have any advice on how to approach the personal statement? I have not written many essays of this sort before. I want to maximize my chances of admission as my academic record is somewhat spotty. I am smart but I have had challenges in my life that have affected my grades and ability to finish courses.

I am considering the Interactive Media Design major at UWB, which is somewhat line with my background as a software engineer. Biology is another major I would consider, but I haven't taken biology since high school.

Thanks!
