UW-Seattle or UIUC?

Which one for math? Which one overall?

bump? :)..

UIUC both.

UIUC might be a little better overall but theyre both great schools. Would you rather be in a big city or an awesome college town?

Seattle is a big city..but the U-District is kinda messy but they have great stores and stuff nearby. never been to urbana-champaign(or champagne) my cousin went there and he loved it...he was a comp sci major.

Are both campuses beautiful? I think I will have to visit both campuses to decide.

I think UIUC is better than UWashington...campus wise. But the city of Seattle is amazing itself.

UW campus is nearly all "modern brick." Exception is the Odegaard Library, which you may seldom use.

LakeWashington is correct, it is mostly brick. Since I want to go pre-med I like the fact that there is Seattle Children's Hospital within 10 minutes of the campus so that is a plus. There is also the University Village that has a lot of high-end stores and a Barnes and Noble..another good thing.

All in all, UW is good. I want to know how Washington State University or Western Washington University's campus looks like. Perhaps maybe similar to UW?

I don't know why, but I am leaning towards UW-Seattle. Is admission into UW-Seattle easier than UIUC or the other way around? Also, how is the math department at UW? That will most likely be my major.

I am told that the Washington State University main campus in Pullman has a classic collegiate look. The school is located in a very rural and quite remote corner of the state. The joke is that it is essentially located in Idaho. Nevertheless, its academics are solid and rigorous for the serious student. The administration has concentrated on eliminating the 'party central' image in recent years. The university is attracting more achieving high school applicants (including out-of-staters from California) with its Honors College.

I spend a week on the UIUC campus many many years ago. I wasn't impressed. There was nothing 'memorable' about that campus. Besides, Urbana-Champaign is in the middle of nowhere...

The UDub campus is one of the prettiest I've seen ... especially in the spring, when the cheery blossoms are in full bloom in the quad, and spring flowers everywhere. The campus does have a 'modern' feel (is that what you mean by "modern brick"?) but there are also quite a bit of green around the buildings. I guess we just have different taste.

Uh? Do you mean the street people of the Ave? The U-District in general is quite safe. The U-Village area is nice. There are lots of nice restaurants on 45th and Lake Union is not that far away.

Re: Western Washington University
It's in Bellingham and it's on top of a hill. Need I say more?

Ive never visited WWU or WSU but I am really interested in WSU's campus I want to know if there are any hospitals nearby so I can shadow a few doctors which would be helpful for med school.

U-Village is a nice area especially with a small-medium shopping area nearby. I heard the dorms at UWashingon where bad though but I am not sure about that.

About other Washington State colleges. I believe Central in Ellensburg has the worst campus, and I have no idea what to say about Eastern in Cheney.

Yeah, I found some videos for schools at theU.com. I think they've got UW and UIUC. Pretty good visuals of the campuses. Worth checking out.

Don't know for certain but with almost 20,000 people in the Pullman area (and U of Idaho less than 10 miles away), there must be a medical center in the WSU region. Keep in mind that medical schools won't base their consideration of your candidacy on how often you met with doctors as an undergrad. By the way, I understand that WSU has sent many alumni to the UW Medical School in Seattle. Have you read about Dr. Dan Doornik (Dan played football for the NY Giants and the Seattle Seahawks)? His dad and two brothers are also MDs. All got their bachelor's from WSU.

No I haven't read about him, but I'll definitely do it.

That would be ideal for me, going to WSU (or UW), getting the MD at UW, and getting a residency at Seattle Children's. That would be the PERFECT outlook for me.
