I am an international student who got admitted to University of Washington and University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. I need to decide where to go to and I am majoring in International Relations. My concern about UIUC is that it is located in a rural area, but I have heard it has a great academics and social scene. Which college should I go to?

Both good schools, but I doubt anyone can really help you with a detailed contrast. If you have specific questions about UW, we can answer those, and you can compare that to what you learn about UIUC.

I have been to UIUC and had friends that went there. The area is very lacking socially and relatively ugly unless you like old rundown small cities and cornfields. Seattle–relatively much better.

Remember to think about not only the program, but also the networking opportunities you’ll have at each school. You can’t run out of people to become connected to at UW; the place (and city) is so big!
