<p>I met with the one person staff of the office that helps prepare students applying for major national and international fellowships/etc. She is a wonderful person running basically a one woman operation that has only existed a few years with great success. She said they had 4 or 5 Rhodes semi-finalists this year but no winners as they have to improve on the interview portion. Other schools assemble teams of faculty experts to question and coach candidates in prep for the interview and UW has not gone to that level yet. </p>
<p>Anyway they still had a good year and it's great to see a clear effort being made to garner more of these awards. </p>
