UW Summer 2016 Transfer Thread

Haha yeah, UW is so late. I also applied Seattle U and WSU, which sent me the admission two months ago

Hey guys, I feel your struggles. I wish everyone good luck!

My stats: 3.94 Overall GPA
PREREQ GPA: 4.0
85 credits
Intended Majors Listed: Mathematics and Economics (Bachelor of Science)
Applied Directly into major: No (Application for major opens in fall)
Transferring from: Bellevue College
Personal statement: Probably the best paper I’ve ever written (helped 9 running start kids with their essays and all 9 got in with direct admission, I guess I’m good luck)

I’ve taken all the math and economics classes here and this is the only school I have applied to… Hopefully my two years here will get me that acceptance, lol.

I’m so nervous as well. I’m losing sleep over here :frowning:
Although I am so happy I am not the only one that has not recieved anything. My story is a little weird, I got accepted to UW as a transfer student (for general admission) for Autumn 2014 two years ago but had to reject the offer of admission due to health related reasons. Now, two years later, I applied again for Autumn 2016. When I got accepted in 2014 I got my letter of admission on May 1st. Now its mid may and nothing yet.

My stats: 3.67 Overall GPA
95 credits, I hold an AAS direct transfer degree
Intended Majors Listed: Psychology
Applied Directly into major: No because my community college did not offer 1 of the pre req courses so I have to take it at UW
Transferring from: Everett Community College
I also am an honors student and participated in an honors capstone project and for a part of it I presented at the University of Washingtons under grad research symposium.

Good luck to everyone I hope we all get in. Please keep this post updated if you guys get your letters.

Thanks

@nadayou I’m also planning to major in psych! What prereq are you missing? I’ve completed all prereqs already during my high school years (running start). Also, last year people started receiving the 18th of May so it’s always different. Especially if you apply for Autumn because they’re trying to rush out the Summer applicants first (at least that would make so much more sense to lol)

Okay I regret checking this because I exited out after replying to a post and came back to hunt more information because I just realized it’s now the 15th omg

@curiousgalll Oh that’s awesome. I’m missing Biopsychology. They didn’t offer it at EvCC. So I have to take it at UW.
Where are you transfering from?

@nadayou Everywhere LOL I take classes at a bunch of different schools to get pre-reqs or if I’m late on registering and spots aren’t left but I’m mainly at Bellevue College. I took psych 202: bio psych at Shoreline CC with Anne Richards! If you are able to, you should try taking the class there over the summer!

I am wondering when we will hear back from the UW, especially the CSE department?

Has anyone tried calling the admissions office? I heard you can call in for updates about acceptance letters. I’d do it myself but I have major anxiety talking on the phone

@curiousgalll lol I don’t think they will do that. I email them last week about my admission. If I can not received my new I-20 before next week, my old student visa will expire(international student stuff you know…). However, they just said “we will send your decision at May, you should plan accordingly.”

I applied for the autumn quarter. The wait is seriously killing me. I applied as a transfer student as well, and I’ve read somewhere that this year will be very competitive for transfers. I’m an out of stater too, so I hope that some magic happens and I’ll be able to attend in September. Do you guys know of any forum/website that I could use to possibly find a roommate for an apartment off campus? Thanks, and good luck to all of you!

@curiousgalll oh that’s awesome. I did not know they offer biopsych over there.
@Grey007 yeah I heard they recieved a record number of applicants this year again. More and more in state students are applying to UW because UW’s tuition rate dropped drastically for in state students. Out of state and international students pay a lot more than in state. A biology proffesor at UW told me that they are actually accepting more out of state and international than in state because those students pay more in tuition and UW has gotta make money, of course.

Here’s the article about the applicants this year:

How do you log onto my UW? I can get to my application page but I can’t seem to figure out to who get to the page in order to do the transcript trick!

@nadayou My major would be biology! Hopefully they’ll accept me… I fell in love with Seattle when I visited last year and I know that’s where I belong. Thanks for the article!

@Nogizaka I was actually reading through the old threads for past transfers and saw people saying how they called in and stuff like how admissions told them they were late on letters that year and another person saying how admissions let them know letters were coming out on Friday, etc

@uw2016nm You need a UW NetID from there you sign in and click on the “admissions” tab on the left and “unofficial uw transcript” will be on the right, under “after being admitted, seattle”

@curiousgall So did you call them these day? By the way, if I can open “unofficial uw transcript” page, it will mean that I had been admitted?

@Nogizaka I believe* that, if accepted, your transfer credits will have been applied to the unofficial transcript. When they update. My buddy that transferred from Seattle central 4-5 years ago said that he did this and knew about three days before the golden ticket showed up in his mailbox.

@Dbowen01 Thanks for sharing that. I just refreshing on my “Application Information" page these day lol.
Is there any one get the good news?
