Let’s start a thread about your application and decisions.
Type of Applicant: International Transfer, from NSCC- Summer
GPA: 3.2
Major applied: Mathematics
Classes faulty: one Withdraw, one 0.0 and 1.6 five 2.4-2.9 classes
Strength: Not much really, no amazing experience other than two mathematics competitions back in my home country and passion for math that I put on my personal statement.
Weakness: I took CSC 142 FOUR times. I kept failing on the class. The first time i took it, I withdrawn, second time 1.6, third time 0.0 and last 2.6 I wanted to be a CS major, but it was all a parental pressure. I still don’t know what I want to do really. I’ve also been in NSCC for 10 quarters.
Result:
Accepted: UC Davis
Rejected: Uw Seattle
I also know a friend who got accepted to UC Berkeley and rejected to UW Seattle.
Hey guys! I applied for Autumn 2016 as a transfer and I haven’t heard back yet, but here are my credentials.
Type of applicant: Out of state Transfer
GPA: 3.89
Major: Biology
Classes faulty: 3 W’s in my first year (family issues that were addressed in my personal statement), yet no more W’s after that.
Strength: Resolved family issue and grades have had an upward trend since then. Involved in leadership (SGA secretary at my current college). Work as a medical scribe in preparation for medical school. Volunteer work.
Weakness: Those 3 W’s (never the same class though), OOS transfer from a college, not CC.
I would like to know my chances too
Type of applicant: Transfer (In State)
GPA: 3.83
Classes: one W due to my professor’s teaching style. However him and I are on good terms and he has become my advisor. The rigor of my courses includes Math 146, Chinese 121,122,123, Environmental Science 210, Sociology 265
Extra info: I am a CC transfer. I have shown great progress since my high school days. I am a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. I’m also applying ahead of the usual 2 years because I am in good academic standing which the advisor at the Henry Jackson School of International Studies recommend I do.
@thaipq No I’m not a running start student. Just a regular CC student. Any CC student can join PTK as long as they have a 3.5 gpa and maintain at least a 3.2 gpa. PTK is a lifelong membership.
@Aharris1105 my major is competitive, yet I can’t apply for my major until I’ve matriculated. I’m considering applying to University of Puget Sound in the meantime. I really need to leave my home state. Do you guys know of anything about the school? Their forum is dead…
@Aharris1105 Thanks for the links! I just don’t want to end up not being able to leave Louisiana. UW is my first choice, but I really just need to leave.
For some reason I believe transfers do get waitlisted, yet I believe it’s a much smaller pool that gets waitlisted. It would make sense for them to have a waitlist for transfers just in case other transfers decide to go to other schools and they still want to fill their transfer quotas. I’ll do some digging and let you know if I find anything.
@Aharris1105 After reading the guidelines for special admissions on UW’s website, I don’t think they have a transfer waitlist. You can appeal if you are denied though, which I guess is slightly comforting.
@Grey007 you’re welcome. I hope you get into the UW. Overall Washington state is a nice state to live in. Have you looked at Seattle University or Seattle Pacific University? Or are you like me and have your heart set on the UW?
@Aharris1105 I have my heart set on UW. It’s just an incredible school and beautiful. I’m interested in their medical school, so I think it would be cool to build relationships with some of the professors during undergrad. Unfortunately, Seattle University doesn’t have the degree program I’m looking to continue with.
@CompSci18 I applied for general admission and requested biology (likely won’t be placed in my program because online it says I have to be a matriculated student to apply for it). Doesn’t hurt to try though! And no… Unfortunately we are all still waiting.
