Uw ucsb

Please give me some useful advice. I need to make a decision very soon.

I have been admitted into both UW and UIUC and I picked UW. However UCSB which is on my waitlist offered me a place.

I applied as a CA resident but im basically international since I went to a boarding school in California. I really have difficultly choosing, UW seems to have better prestige, and I have heard UW has great professors, while UCSB is also a wonderful university. Both places have great weather. (Im indifferent to the rain in seattle)

I probably would major in business, but my options are open.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thank you

If you want to major in Business don’t go to UCSB. They don’t have a business major there- I think they currently have Econ and/or Bus Econ but not an extensive dept. so check that out. I know nothing about UW and am a UCSB alum. I know UCSB is a great school and both Seattle and Santa Barbara are beautiful communities. Good luck.

thanks alot

By simply applying as a resident, does that actually make you a resident? My understanding is that if you are dependent upon your parents, it is your PARENTS who have to qualify as “California residents for the purpose of Tuition”, not you.

If I were you I would really make sure what each will cost you. UCSB could be about half the cost of UW if you indeed are classified as a California Resident for the Purposes of Tuition.

This link may help you get a better undertanding. As I read it, if your parents are not legal CA residents, then you must be financially independent from them… that is a very difficult standard to meet.

UCSB’s price is much cheaper than that of UW, but I price is not very important for me. If regardless of the price, what would your opinion be.?
