That is, what percentage of Madison undergrads that apply to med school get accepted? A link or some sort of reference would be helpful.

No such data available. They do fill about half the UW Med School class each year and also quite a few go to Med School of Wisconsin.

The other medical school is The Medical College of Wisconsin. Don’t worry about percentages. UW is the top feeder school for both UW and MCW, ie going to UW gives you an advantage over other state (and most in the country) schools.

Entering freshmen who have the premedical intention may change their minds before actually applying to medical school. This can be due to interest changes or not having good grades to be competitive. Less than 1/2 (1/3?) of the applicants will get in from any college to any medical school. Do not let this deter you from the school you wish to go to- in other words, don’t choose a college based on beating the odds of getting into medical school. Choose your school and major based on where YOU want to go to college, not the percentages who get in. Remember that a lower percentage at a large school such as UW means many more students from there than from a small school with a higher percentage.

UW-Milwaukee has had an arrangement with MCW for a few students getting in there after 3 years of college- only apply to that program if that is where you want to go to college (students can go to medical school after 3 years of college anywhere). Anecdotaly- I know a student who chose a small college with a high percentage of students getting into medical school and did not get in- I’m not sure if he applied instate here or not- the message is that it can backfire to choose a college based on percentages getting into a program.
