I'm an incoming Freshman to UW planning to take humanities but I want to become a neurosurgeon in the future.

UW was one of my top choices, mostly because of it's location, and offered me the best financial aide, so even though I got into more prestigious schools like BU and Northwestern/eastern I decided to go there.

But now I'm wondering if going to UW will negatively affect my chances of getting into a good med school later, to the point where half the time I am already thinking of transfering and the other half I'm still really excited to go.

So any thoughts?

that’s the problem
I’m not sure if where I want to go now(UW) will be as helpfull as I want it to be to where I currently wanna go in four years

Blegh
I hate summer semi-meltdowns

Just go wherever you will be the happiest as long as they give some sort of premed advising, and from what I can see on their website they have it. [Pre-Health Advising at the UW - Medicine](http://www.washington.edu/uaa/gateway/advising/prehealth/fields/premed.php)

u can get into med school from any undergraduate college u attend. just because u got to a more prestigious undergrad doesn’t mean you’ll have a better shot of acceptance. get a gpa of ~3.5 or better and ~30 or better on the mcat and do some kind of extracurriculars to make u stand out. find research opportunities on campus, volunteer at a hospital or nursing home, join the humane society, whatever.

Since you’re already there, it is the best program in the country for you.

UW has great science programs so you will have fine prep for any med school. I assume you mean Seattle although the same would be said for Madison.

^^^From the OPs other post, it is UDub.
