Yesterday I decided that, unless I hate the Admitted Students Program, Im going to Harvey Mudd.

Today I got accepted for direct admission to UWs bioengineering program. Only ten pre-freshmen get accepted a year.

Im stuck.

I guess it comes down to this:

Harvey Mudd-more stress, lots of loans, Cali guys (lol), sun, and personalized environment

University of Washington-Honors Program, full ride, rain

I think, I hope, I pray that regardless of which undergrad college I attend, Ill still get into the grad school of my choice.

So
do I opt for the easy route?

No one can make this decision for you, and it won't be an easy decision to make. You have good reasons for attending both. There is a chance that Mudd will overwhelm you, but there's also a chance that UW will bore you, or that you won't feel challenged enough. I assume you're coming to the Admitted Students Program, so see how you like it here, and really critically evaluate it. If you're interested in bioengineering, I recommend that you talk to Professor Orwin while you're here. She's a Mudd alum/bio and engineering prof here, and she could probably give you great advice about pursuing bioengineering academically, at Mudd or UW. Other than that, hang out with current students and prefrosh and try to get a feel for what the people are like, and if you can tolerate the nerdiness and feel like it's the kind of environment you want, then maybe Mudd is the way to go.

Thanks!! I'm excited to visit Mudd.
