UW vs. WSU - Journalism

Hey guys.
I'm a RS student, already applied to the UW - and now unsure what to do.
I'm a senior in HS, and started RS just this Fall quarter.
Originally I got my mind set on majoring in Accounting but after this quarter and struggling a lot, I decided to switch majors from Accounting to Communication/Journalism.
I always had a passion for it anyways :)
It wasn't a problem to switch at the Community College, but I don't know how to proceed if I get accepted to the UW and the Foster Business school...
My schedule changed as well, but I'm pretty sure that this won't be a problem.

I just don't know anymore whether I should go to UW if I get accepted..
I heard from friends who major in Comm. that WSU has a really good program, but heck, I don't wanna go and live in Pullman for four years :(

Any input on this is greatly appreciated :)!!

I wouldn’t let the location of WSU hold you back. Growing up, I bought into the whole cowtown reputation of Pullman as well.

But one day in the Fall of 2009, I went out there for a weekend and absolutely loved the experience and the town. Because the town is so small, it really affects the social dynamic. Almost everyone is very friendly and willing to get to know everybody else. It is the perfect school for a people person. However, it isn’t for everyone. Introverts tend to dislike the college experience over there.

They also have a great Communications program that would serve you well. The WSU Alumni group is very passionate about providing opportunities to enterprising students so I would expect that you could find a lot of internships/work opportunities.

I would suggest visiting both schools, maybe find a way to sit in on some Comm/Journ classes while you’re visiting. Get a feel for what feels right, make an informed decision, and go with it. If I were you, I would go to the school with the best reputation for these programs. The rankings tend to reflect how many resources and opportunities are available to students, so choosing the better program would make it easier for you to go farther in your field.

Thank you for all the great info, Ebonics?! =)

I applied to WSU now with indicating that I want to study Communications.
I’m not sure how I’ll decide if both accept me…
You see, I always wanted to go to UW and live in Seattle
And I do want to go to Law school later on.

What are some other strong programs at UW except the Foster Business school btw?
If they’d have some other strong Liberal Arts programs, I could still switch my major if I’d get accepted to UW.

At least, I hope I could switch… ;)
