Ugh I just don't know what to do guys. I could attend Western Washington University or apply to UW Seattle, I'm a 19 yr old transfer student with a DTA from a local community college.

The upside to Western is if I go there I get to live in a dorm and get away from my parents and have some of the "college experience". I also love the campus and feel of the community there, I can really see myself fitting in, plus the smalerl class sizes are nice.

But then I wonder if UW is looked at more highly by employers, and if I'd have a better time getting hired if I went there. If I went to UW i'd live at home and take the bus since its close enough to. Also i'm attracted to UW's health insurance because they cover stuff that my families insurance doesn't.

Although many on this board might tell you otherwise, most employers will not care whether you went to WWU or UW - Seattle.

Before going back to school I used to work in the technology sector where part of my job including interviewing/hiring employees. I honestly just looked for the most well rounded person who could do the job I was interviewing for.

For the most part, what university they went to made no difference whatsover.

REGARDLESS…if WWU sounds like a better fit for you, then that’s where you should go. You will be happier, as a consequence, will most likely do better then if you went to UW.

WWU will have a similar value to UW Seattle in the State of Washington, but the value of WWU will diminish substantially outside of this region. UW is recognized worldwide, while WWU is a regional school. It is a fine school, but it is not of the caliber of UW.

Employers care about whether you have the skills or not. Go wherever if more convenient for you. If that means UW, go to UW. If that means WWU, go to WWU. Just make sure you get the most out of where you go.
