My son got his DA letter on 03/20. We are in-state. He applied computer science. The included enrollment from lists the College: ARTS and SCI, Major: COMPUTER SCI.

By the way, I’d like to thanks speedsolver, he worked hard here and provide a lot of helpful information.

@Riversong123 @UniversityHugger So the departments and majors are kind of confusing, but here’s a run down:

Computer Science and Engineering (department) offers computer science (major) and computer engineering (major). Based on their degree requirements and some other factors, computer science (major) is under the College of Arts and Sciences (college). Computer engineering (major) is under the College of Engineering (college).

Thus, if non-DAs that had applied for computer science (major) will see pre-science (‘major’) under College of Arts and Sciences (college). Those who applied for computer engineering (major) will see pre-engineering (‘major’) under College of Engineering.

@bill2014: Congrats to your son! And I’m glad to help. =)

@speedsolver. I really want to thank you from my bottom of my heart how much useful information you are giving to parents and students. I really appreciate your involvement in helping out the future and existing students of UW. I will get in touch with you. I and my son are planning to visit UW on April 18th. I hope you will be around to meet you in person. I will send message to you.

Does anyone know if Foster (Business) DA letters have come out yet? I don’t know anyone who’s received one so I’m not sure if I just didn’t get in or if they’re still being released…

International student here from Hong Kong, received my packet today, mailed on the 18th. Strangely enough I didn’t get the gold acceptance letter that everyone else seemed to get.

Congrats to DA students! Unofficial transcript changed today! It said Arts and Sciences before, but now reads Business Administration for both college and major. Good luck to all!

@bullcomp Yes! It’s too late for freshman admissions, but “late admission” is an option. There’s also departmental honors, which is specific to an academic department.

I was an Honors freshman admit who dropped Honors during my second year because it wasn’t helping me with my specific goals. From what I hear, it’s way easier to get into the Honors program via late admissions than freshman admissions. That may have changed in the past two years.

@speedsolver (and everyone else in here) Does anybody know if freshman juniors (students coming directly from high school with enough college credit) can get accepted into the Health Sciences major? My Unofficial Transcript has me listed as a Pre-Health Sciences major. Is it because I am too young?

For example, the EEPers or ACAD students usually are “pre-something” or “interdisciplinary studies” until they finish their CADR requirements. Then they can declare a major. It doesn’t seem like you’re in that situation.

Also, this may be just with people I know, but rather than saying “freshman juniors”, we say “first year juniors” to try to make things a bit more clear. Everyone gets confused their first/second years, though! :)
