UW Winter 2015 transfer thread

@Husky1995‌ Have you only applied to Seattle?

@Husky1995 Same as mine, except it shows my foreign language requirement as fulfilled. I don’t think any of our college classes will show up until we pay the fee for our transfer classes to be evaluated.

I applied to Bothell last night. I was hoping I would hear early and save the $60 but no dice, so I hit the Bothell button last minute. As far as the Audit, try running it from the MyPlan area and I bet it goes through. I can run one on my planned courses and then there’s a tab to run one on your current transcript which is the one that does not include any of my transfer classes.

Ohh yes that audit system is pretty cool. I have the same result as you @Husky1995

The My Plan let me look at classes before I had any idea I was accepted. Prior to acceptance to Seattle or Tacoma, I could not access DARS. Also, before my transcript changed to Seattle, I was able to see my intended major shift from Tacoma to Seattle and could run a DARS for Seattle as well. Transfer classes do not show up for some time. In fact, I didn’t see mine applied until shortly after the start of my first quarter. Like I said, these alternate attempts to decipher your UW destiny are a nice diversion if nothing else. I was lucky, in that last year my transcript changed on October 25th. It looks like they are slightly slower this year. Good luck guys, your wait should be over soon.

@Jsmith210 Could you run a degree audit for Seattle before you knew you were accepted?

Thank for all the info and encouragement! This wait is excruciating!!

How do you go to MyPlan?

@Husky1995‌

nvmd! Found it. Doesn’t show my pre requisites, only what I need to complete for my BA/BS lol.

I’m new here. Unofficial transcript trick is not working for me yet nor any of the other tricks mentioned.
Stats:
3.53 CLVL GPA
Complete AA from a WA CC
3.9 GPA in intended major (philosophy)
1 Withdrawl on transcripts
Phi Theta Kappa
First-Gen
Awarded “Philosophy Student of the Year”
Wrote a typical personal statement but with FLAIR :stuck_out_tongue:

Question: I am currently taking a quarter at my CC to finish some pre-reqs (2 CADRs and 2nd foreign language sequence), even though I have a complete AA (because UW thinks its special and wants you to jump through hoops). I spoke with a admissions personnel and they told me that if I am accepted it would be CONDITIONAL on whether I pass my current classes (which I already knew would be the case). They said they might have me send in a mid-review of how my classes are going (no problem). So my question is, will I be notified later than others? and would my transcripts not show up because of my situation (until i complete my courses?) or will they admit me at the same time but reserve the right to revoke that decision if I don’t complete these courses to their satisfaction?

@winlogic Wow. You must have spoke with someone in admissions having a bad day! Of course if you are admitted it is going to be contingent upon you performing well in your final quarter of classes. A friend of mine that attends UW with me told me that they have had issues with freshman getting accepted and then just blowing off coursework thinking their grades no longer matter and have had to revoke offers of admission. That being said, transfer students generally tend to know better and as hard as we work to get here, aren’t going to blow our classes off. I was admitted conditionally with 85 credits and a 3.91, but it was because I had been out of school for several years, had a GED and had not completed my fine arts requirement. I completed an art history class my first quarter; yet a year later, it still shows on my transcript as being in need of completion. So do not worry about conditional acceptance, it does not slow down or delay admittance. In fact, last winter I was among the first to receive an admission letter and have my transcript show. Transfer courses and transcripts (college anyway) are updated after orientation and when you complete your CC classes your final transcript will be added later.

@winlogic‌

Hello!
Hmm, that’s a tough question to answer as I’ve never met/read about anyone that was in your situation.
If I had to guess, I would say that it really depends on WHEN you send in your mid-review grades.
As for the unofficial transcript trick, I think it loads once UW decides on accepting you.
Although it is not indicative of anything, the majority of people that have their transcript load usually receive a letter soon after.
I think the fact that you haven’t received a rejection is a good sign; UW rejects applicants with incomplete applications/CADRs even before the official notification period. I do know of someone that was rejected during the official notification period as she did not have all of her CADRs so she applied 2 quarters (after finishing CADRs) later and was admitted. UW has the right to revoke an acceptance for any applicant. If that applicant is accepted and decides to mess around his/her last quarter, UW has the right to reverse their decision.

P.S.

I WOULD HIGHLY ENCOURAGE you to double check the status of your mid-review grades once you send it or even if you already sent it. UW is pretty bad with keeping track/responding of/to e-mails/letters. I know that October 1, 2014 was the deadline for any late paperwork/transcripts, so make sure that you have the e-mail regarding mid-review grades on hand. Never know if they’ll switch up on you! :P

@Jsmith210‌

Hey, do you know if transcripts load on weekends? I know the admissions office is closed on Sat/Sun, but was wondering if transcripts still load haha.

@UWchancemeh‌
From what I understand, you’re unofficial transcripts will ONLY load if you are admitted because it will have your student ID on them and UW doesn’t hand out student IDs to those rejected. So it’s 100% if they load and you see your student ID number.

Also that is a really good idea to email them and double check what’s goin on. They have not requested a mid-review from me yet, they just said eventually they MIGHT ask for one. It is half way through fall quarter for me, so I think I will take your advice :)

@UWchancemeh: No, unfortunately they do not load on the weekends. However, on weekdays the system updates every evening around 8PM, so if you do not see anything change during the day, check around 8. Also, the transcript time only updates once per day. For example, if I look at my unofficial at 6AM, it shows that time until the system updates again later that evening. @winlogic, I would not even worry about submitting mid-quarter grades. I submitted updated grades after I applied for Winter quarter last year and was told that it was unnecessary unless specifically requested. By now, decisions have been made and submitting more information probably isn’t necessary. I think the majority of you are going to be fine and probably receive a letter or have a transcript load in the next few days. But when you do, keep an eye out for the enrollment packet and return it as quickly as possible so you can get an early December orientation and have a shot at decent classes!

Hey everyone!
I tried the transcript trick and its showing a student ID number and some administrative stuff. I haven’t received anything in the mail yet so I hope this is good news.
My stats:
AA from Wa CC
3.54 GPA
Phi Theta Kappa

Good luck to everyone! This waiting is killing me.

wow @UWchancemeh so much good information! :smiley: I think we’re all just super anxious and nervous…many have better grades than others and with those like me with lower grades…it’s even more nerve wrecking. I was an ESL student all through high school and I took a break after high school and finally going back now finishing off with my AA at Cascadia Community College (shared campus with UWB) I made the mistake of not having my personal statement edited by anyone before submitting it and I see on here that some people had their personal statement looked over by a lot of different people. I have such a hectic schedule iwth full time job and two kids that I didn’t have the time to go in. But now I regret it very much…I was told by office of admission that my application is on the final stage of review and to keep an eye out for an email or mail for the decision…gawd…just thinking about it makes me lightheaded. I hope more people get to see their decision whether it’s in the mail/email or with the transcript trick…which I’ve been trying every 15mins…so sad…but desperate at the same time. well…good luck to everyone…here’s to more waiting…

@Jsmith210‌ Wow thanks! :)

Update:
Just checked my mail and got an acceptance letter! Good luck to everyone still waiting
