Okay guys…so I called admissions and spoke to Carlos. I also was informed that notifications will be sent out starting Thanksgiving through early December. I looked him up online and he is the assistant director of admissions. Therefore, I’m sure he probably knows what he’s talking about. Let the waiting continue…

System is back up and same info nothing changed. UWB applicant. Currently on last two classes at cascadia community college for integrated studies AA.

@socalsea‌

Thanks for taking the time to call!
Bummer that we have to wait until then, but it is what it is! :/

Why would they even post November as a time that we would hear from them then? Why not mid November? Its a pretty big deal for most of us that applied and lots of things depend on acceptance or being declined.

@lola55‌ Some years they let applicants know fairly early. If you look back on a previous winter thread, applicants did not find out until the 22nd or so. I agree, some students may have to commit to other schools without even knowing their UW status.

Both of my sisters went to UW and back then when they called the admissions said they usually notify highis priority applicants during the first week, and then send out waves of acceptance letters for the following weeks. Im guessing high priority applicants are the ones with excellent essays, GPA, and other variables. Now they could be doing something different this year, so IDK.

When I spoke with office of admission they told me that it doesn’t matter who has better grades or better essay but whoever send in their application first will be the first to hear about acceptance letter. I sent mine in on sept 29th and they said my application is waiting on the last stage of review so I should be checking the mail and email frequently for the letter. So I think sometime this week some of us will start hearing things back and next week more people will hear more. Again good luck to all. Uwb

I am not so sure about the whole “they who apply first gets notified first.” For the previous winter quarter I was one of the early ones notified and did not submit my application until the day applications closed. Admissions at this point probably is not going to be super helpful. I was lucky last year in that I contacted the same officer when I wanted info and he told me they are very limited in the information they can divulge during the notification period. @dammitbobby- I have heard similar things about how the admissions officer operates and quite frankly it would make sense. From their perspective, it would be advantageous for the university to give more "qualified"applicants right of refusal.

Hey everyone,

I just realized that so many of you were scared about the “services not available” prompt on MyUW this morning. I wanted to let you know that UW has a system maintenance scheduled for night/morning (I think 2 times a day or weekly).

Who else is able to run the DARS on my plan? I didn’t know about it before u til I reread this thread and now I can see some info for uwb…I don’t know I’d that means anything…can anyone else access that page? I

@nengerz‌ Yes I can as well and it used to not work

@nengerz‌

I’m able to run a degree audit.
It shows the classes, which I still need to take for my degree.
Not completely accurate as of right now though.

@Andielle‌ are you already accepted to uwb?

@nengerz‌

I’m not sure if UW accepts/denies people based on how early they turn in their application.
UW does not offer EA (early action); therefore, they can’t really look at letters with a bias based on the timing of the application. I could be wrong. My friend turned in his application AFTER the deadline with an appeal letter and received his letter pretty darn early. He is in the military reserves so I don’t know if that helped him or not.

This wait is absolutely ridiculous. UW Seattle is expecting us to buy books, look for housing, apply for orientation, sign up for classes, figure out our financial situation, & more in less than a month (if we get accepted). Plus, some applicants need to commit to other schools soon and may have to do so without knowing their UW status…

completely agree! if they seriously going to notify us until the end of the month-early December that’s the most ridiculous/unprofessional thing I have ever heard! do they really expect up to wait around from them to inform us and pass up other opportunities especially considering other colleges only hold your admission for only so long! I really want to find out if this is actually the case because if it is I’ll be committing somewhere else!
