@UWchancemeh That’s what I thought too! I talked to someone in UW housing and she said most of the housing assignments for winter quarter are sent out in late November so I suspect that that means most of the letters go out before then. So nervous! I’ve also heard that the first transcripts load on October 25…that’s less than 2 weeks away!

@Andielle me too -.-" I know UW accepts late transcripts up until October 16th meaning that they most likely begin looking at them around that time. I’m like 90% sure you’ll get in, your GPA is above average, you’re in state, and if your essay was decent, then I don’t see a reason for you not to get in besides not having an AA

@UWchancemeh I’m sure you will get in too! The good news is that even though the average GPA is a 3.49, half of the students admitted had a GPA lower than that. I’m a little a worried because the advisor for my major at UW told me to take the wrong class at my current college and so now I am 1 prereq short. My major requires that I take 10 credits at UW before applying, so regardless if I had the class or not I would be starting my major in the spring (since I can take it at UW in the winter). I’m super worried that they won’t be too happy about this though. And the UW seems pretty picky about so many things.

@UWchancemeh I’m a philosophy major on the pre-med track. I might double major in math or chemistry, haven’t decided yet. What about yourself?

@Andielle I know what that’s like, my advisor is the worst. He’s essentially answered every question I’ve had with either “it depends” or “do what you think is right”. Oh well, I guess that’s part of college.

One of the people at the admissions office said that if you have like 40 credits or something, you don’t have to even submit ACT/SAT. Do you all think that they don’t really care about standardized tests all that much?

@Andielle That’s true haha! Awe, dang…I can totally relate with you too. My advisor didn’t give me the wrong advice but I recently changed my major and so I’m one class short of meeting my pre requisites. Sometimes I feel like UW is random when it comes to deciding on who to admit. I’m struggling with getting the admission specialist at UW to email me back, I’ve called but still nothing -.-

@whitechiner Awesome! I’m planning on pursuing public health and disability studies (individual studies).

@whitechiner To be honest I don’t think they really factor in your test scores once you’re out of high school. My friend applied in 2012 to Foster/UW and was admitted. He had horrible test scores (13-1400ish/2400); however, he did get his AA, all pre requisites finished, and had a 3.8+ GPA. They look at your application holistically. I’ve seen people getting in with 2.5-2.9 GPAs but claimed to have excellent essays, people getting rejected with 3.7+ GPAs, it’s all over the map.

@whitechiner I actually asked admissions about this since I have less than 90 credits but more than 45. They said they would take a look at them but it won’t have a heavy influence on your application. I sent mine in just in case since they were average for what scores freshmen they admit seem to have. It can’t hurt, aside from the $11 you lose.

@UWchancemeh I can totally relate. My classes for fall quarter changed since my advisor gave me wrong advice and I dropped the class I don’t need. I emailed admissions and asked them who to contact about a change on my application and they responded with “it depends” and asked me what change I need to make. After telling them I wanted to change my current classes, they stopped responding. It seems like they only respond maybe 50% of the time. So frustrating :-<

@Andielle Yeah T.T. I called 4 different advisors today, but all of them went to voice mail. I’m assuming that they aren’t at work since it’s Columbus Day. It’s hard because I don’t want to come off as an annoying applicant that pesters them 24/7, but at the same time I NEED ANSWERS! I too will only have about 60 credits after this Fall. Good luck to us no AA peeps!

Finally everything with my application has been finalized!
Good luck to all! I honestly hope everyone here gets in :)

@UWchancemeh what do you mean it’s been finalized? Best of luck!

@Andielle I’ve been having issues here and there regarding my application from my high school to not sending my transcript to incorrect information on my application. It’s been an issue for about 2-3 weeks, but the admissions specialist helped me and told me that my application moved onto the final phase. :)

@UWchancemeh Oh good! It’s a little nerve racking how they don’t have any way to confirm that they have received your transcripts.

@Andielle Yeah, especially when your HS has a history of just taking your $5.45 and not sending it -.-"
Gosh, I hope I get in, that would make my xmas hahaha

“Thank you for applying for admission to the Seattle campus of the University of Washington for winter quarter 2015. We will inform you by postal mail when a decision is made on your application. If further information is needed, we will contact you via the email address listed below. Please make sure your email address is valid and check this site occasionally for information concerning your application. This message will not change unless additional information is required or until a final admission decision is made.”
Since I have not heard from them, I’m assuming they got all my transcripts?! I read in earlier posts (2010) there seemed to be somewhere u could see what they’ve received and whether the app had been reviewed. Anyone have anything different?

@Husky1995 That’s what mine says too. I’m pretty sure that if they needed something else from you they would’ve contacted you by now. When my boyfriend applied, he didn’t send his transcript in for the longest time and they kept sending him emails reminding him to send it in. You could also call them to double check I’m sure.

@Husky1995 They most likely have all your transcripts/paperwork. My HS failed to send in my transcript so I received an e-mail asking for that. Once I sent it in, I got that same exact e-mail that you posted. Good luck everyone. People should be finding out real soon through the transcript trick.

@Husky1995 That’s exactly the same message I got after I submitted my application for Autumn 2014. All you have to do now is wait and check your transcript. If you’re missing something, they ask for it under the email you’ve provided to them. I got my letter three days after my unofficial transcript loaded. Good luck! :-h

@Husky1995 I hadn’t sent one of my transcripts and they contacted me almost immediately to notify me. You would’ve received notice if your application was incomplete. Calling them is the safest route.

Why is it that UW only starts notifying in November? Doesn’t that seem pretty late, especially if you are to make off-campus arrangements?

@whitechiner From trends that I’ve been observing/seeing, those that are accepted are usually notified in the earlier half of November. I was told that housing arrangements and assignments are sent out in the later half of November. This doesn’t mean that you are rejected if you don’t get a letter in the earlier half of November, but the chances are much higher. (This statement could be false, it’s just something that I’ve observed/heard from others)

It is very late, and what makes me nervous is that some people from last years winter transfer thread weren’t notified until December.
