The University of West Alabama in Livingston has given the start to UA students for years – including my mother in the 1940s! At that time it was a 2-year teacher’s college. Livingston is less than an hour from Tuscaloosa. Now it offers 4 yr degrees, new dorms and other programs to make for a traditional university experience. But Malcolm Butler’s UWA connection got wondering – a lot of students use smaller universities or community colleges as a platform to gain academic success to transfer. What other universities or community colleges have given students a good foundation for success at UA?
