Hi! I’m not totally sure if a thread has started up for the most recent upcoming application dates, but, if not, here it is! I was wondering what exactly the National Committees look for more in candidates; whether it’s their grades or their history of community service, and where I should bolster my application when the time comes. I just can’t wait! It would be a dream of mine to be accepted! Thanks for any help!
I don’t know about the US committee, I can only tell you about my personal experience. I’m also not aware of the criteria used to select students, but my biggest advice to you is BE HONEST. Whether you love football or painting, talk about your TRUE PASSIONS, show them you care about something! Those who faked it did not succeed so don’t try to impress them with things that aren’t real. Your application form has to be you, not the “ideal candidate” for whom you think they are looking. There’s no right answer, what counts is how you develop it.
Obviously your GPA shouldn’t be too low as the IB is quite a challenging programme. Furthermore you should pay attention to current events, this is crucial not just for the UWC selection but in life in general.
I’m hoping to get accepted to UWC too! Do you have a certain school in mind? I think they are all pretty good.
Hi I’m from Canada and I am applying this year (I am going into grade 10) and next year if I don’t get in. I know on the Pearson college website they have a link that says some characteristics they look for.
Hi there! I’m from B.C., Canada and I’ll be applying this year (going into Grade 11).
I’ve been looking into and wanting to go to UWC since my Grade 9 year, and I’ve done of the Pearson College campus (my preferences are Adriatic, RB and Red Cross, though I certainly wouldn’t mind Pearson either!)
I’ll post about questions, as well as my EC’s and stuff later, but for now I just wanted to say I’m so excited/nervous about applying this year, and I hope to further discuss UWC with all of you!

Hi guys!!! I’m applying this year to UWC through the Canadian National Committee and I was wondering will the applications come out?
Also I want to know my chances of getting in, I have a 90% average in my grade 9 year and I’m currently going into grade 10. I’m involved with my school a lot but outside of school my only extra curricular is volunteering at a senior’s home. I want to get into UWC Costa Rica UWC ISAK JAPAN (If it opens) and UWC AD baisically anywhere that doesn’t speak English and has a completely different culture. So again what are my chances?

And what makes you qualified (You know just tryna get inspiration from fellow applicants)
Right now, UWC Adriatic is at the top of my list. And I don’t know, to be honest, sometimes I think I’m underqualified…but I do a lot of activities in school. Like I’m vice president in student council and I do this group called Sources of Strength, which is kind of like a suicide prevention group. I’m really involved in my local theater and a couple years back some other kids and I started up a kind of after-school program that uses the theater.

But you know what sucks tho, I’m reading the other years post and they have 124 pages while I’m here wondering if you replied but I’m 7 hours late. Wish there was notifications.
@AdventurerOM Me too!!! But it’s cool. This application process has me so stressed out…I honestly can’t wait to get back to school and have my teachers look over my essay and tell me whether or not it sucks.
