@Pashay aw what a shame, I loved it! It makes me want to go even more but I know I’m setting myself up for a very depressing fall. I just can’t pass up pm the chance I may get into a college. I spoke to Scott (admissions director for GB national committee) and he said it’s fine as long as I mention everything else on my personal statement.

On a note, sorry if it’s already been said, but what are everyone’s top preferences for college? I know they’re opening a new one in Germany for next year, but also one in Armenia which I’m not all too informed about.

@aureleo: I feel a bit the same. Like it made me fall totally in love with it, even more than before, but that just makes me feel as if it will be even more disappointing if I don’t get in I’m trying to be excited so I can show on my app I really do want to go, but at the same time, tame my excitement in case I don’t even get an interview…

My preferences have just been messed up because I wanted to go to Pearson but they stopped offering the IB subjects I wanted, so now it’s AC or RCN. AC offer so many amazing courses I want to do and don’t get me started on the castle! But at the same time it’s quite close to home… Less expensive for transport I guess… But honestly, I would LOVE either. What about you?

What courses do they not do anymore at Pearson? I really was hoping to go there! I mean mg preferences are; Pearson, RCN, India but after that I’m not really sure.

Guys I’m stressing out sooooo much cos the deadline here in the UK is Nov the 13th and I haven’t even tricking started in the application form!!! Whenever I write anything it just seems so horrible and fake and I just can’t omg plus my references r gonna be rlly shut cos my skl des gcses in a year so I don’t get to rlly speak to ma teachers and the people I volunteer for barely know my name

@pashay @aureleo I am as stressed as hell this gal I talked to on instagram has already bloody finished it and sent it off and worst part is I can’t actually afford to go so I need to extra special to get a scholarship :(((

Hey Hedwig8! You have two weeks. It is a lot of time if you look at it from the right aspect. Get yourself together and put everything into your application, you can do it! I guess I know how you feel I’ve done things at the last minute and I managed it. If I managed it, you can manage it too! Good luck! :)

Hey everyone! I guess I’m pretty late joining this, but I’m super psyched about applying. Although after reading all of this, my application is starting to seem pretty bad compared to everyone elses Anyone else stuck on Topic 5 for the (USA) Application? My essay just keeps sounding generic

We’re only able to apply starting in November! I’ve been anxious to apply for months. I’m not going to be in Canada during interviews though, so even if I was called back, I don’t know if I could get in.

@aureleo: Well, I assumed that at Pearson they would do Geography (as most IB schools do…) and I was like 100 percent sure they would do Spanish B because I’ve never heard of an IB school that doesn’t Also, I’d understood they did Social and Cultural Anthropology, which I really wanted to do. But when I downloaded this year’s subjects choice booklet thing (look on their website) they no longer did those 3 subjects!!! So basically they got rid of the 3 out of 6 IB courses I wanted to do, I think because of lack of funding… :(

@Hedwig8: I totally understand your stress. I’m planning to do lots this half term week, because I haven’t done much on the essay questions. Don’t stress too much, if you don’t know what to say I recommend writing a plan of your ideas, and like, start with questions you think are easier, like the activities one where you just have to list and talk about your activities… I’m doing GCSEs in a year too, not because of school, but because I was in a different system and have just come back to the UK so I’m in a bit of weird situation, and I also need a scholarship, so I really get your panic!!! Good luck :)

@Pashay I got worried as I thought they wouldn’t do a subject! I checked and I’m sure I saw Spanish B on there, but maybe I just misread. Well I want to go to Pearson because it’s more science orientated than the rest of the schools, and also I love Canada so, it just seems like a perfect match for me. @Hedwig8 Don’t worry, I agree with Pashay’s advice, start with the easier things first, and then move on to the more difficult things after completing it, it starts to get easier after a while. Unfortunately, I can’t afford it without a scholarship either, it’s one of the main reasons I want to go to Pearson and also after going to the open day and finding out that less than 20 people actually get one, I guess it’s quite scary. :(

@pashay @aureleo thanks guys - yeah the scholarship thing was so scary. I think everyone I’ve talked to who’s applying, is applying for a scholarship which is just terrible news for us - more competition lol. I’ve kind of listed all my ideas it’s just hard putting them down, I hardly have any spare time as well… And the word limit sucks so much!! Yikes. Good luck everyone

How many ex-co is everyone listing ? The max is 5 so should I do talk bout 5 or less? Cos I wanna go into some detail but I dont have space. Also, I was planning on mentioning them as kindof themes like firstly I play the piano and perform in a percussion ensemble at school and an orchestra outside of sschool. Secondly I go to a writing club and a book club. And so on till I get through to my 5th ‘theme’. Or is this not a good idea cos it’s not what they’re really asking for?

This is a bit random, but I was wondering of any of you guys think there is an advantage to going to one of the schools that are integrated into villages (like AD) vs just outside (like AC)? Like, is there less of a sense of community or more?
