UWC applicants year 2014

Oes it have to be teachers from this year or can it be last year too

@Hedwig8, thank you. :)

Oops my phone messed that last part up. It broke it up. What I was trying to ask was if for the teacher recommendations, do we have to ask a teacher from this year or do you guys know if it can be a teacher from last year?

@Santoast13, I dont think there is anything that specifically forbids it, so you should be fine dping one from last year. I’m planning on asking a teacher from last year for my rec…

@tecz77 thank you! I was just unsure if I wanted to ask any teachers from this year since school just started two months ago

@Santoast13, my thoughts exactly. I think it will mean more to have a rec from a teacher you’ve known for longer than a few months :)

@tecz77 thank you  When doing some research on essays that was one of the most important things I saw, to write words you know because essays are suppose to show your passion not your vocabulary.

@Santoast13, I am from NJ too!!! Where in NJ are you applying from? If we both get selected for the interviews, we might see each other!!!

Also, I am terrified about how my academics might hurt my chances :(

@bellath I’m from south jersey about 10 minutes away from philly where are you?

@Santoast, I’m applying from central jersey, so about an hour from philly and an hour from NY :)

@bellath oh cool. Maybe we will interview together.

It scares me how 16000 people have viewed this thread.

Ahhh it’s been so long since I read this. Last time I read this it was on page 17, now it’s on 23 :open_mouth:

@Hedwig8: No worries, I am in Cumbria and I’ve not finished it yet  I’ve finished the subjects, self learning, and almost activities questions. I’m starting on contributions and still have to do the UWC ethos one. And then… the mini personal statement. In which I have no idea what to write!!! And like a week left!!! I’ve been so busy with GCSE English this past Tuesday and loads of Controlled Assessments starting and aghh… Where are you up to?

Woah!!! I’ve just opened my emails and I’m so relieved! Phew:

"Dear Parents, Guardians and students

Greetings from UWC Atlantic College!

We are writing to all who registered to attend the college Open Days on 22nd August and 19th October to inform you that the closing date for applications to the UWC National Committee of Great Britain for entry on 17th August 2014 has been extended to 6th December. It seems that the earlier closing date than usual of 13th November is proving to be a little too early for some. We hope this helps.

Kind regards

Jan"

Wooohooo! More time <3

@Pashay omg let’s celebrate!! But. It’s pretty sad for the people who’ve already done it and this means we won’t know if we’ve been accepted till January which makes it even more stressful :/// plus now everyone has time to make their applications even better!! Soo… Mixed ffeelings lol but now at least I can go out for my birthday this weekend lool

@Pashay btw I’m behind you I haven’t properly finished anything yet but I’ve basically done the activities and drafts of the next two answers and I’ve started subjects. :)

Yay! I have the next two days off for school! Time to put more time into my application! :)

@Santoast13, lucky you! I have so much work to do for tomorrow and for Friday that I don’t even have time to think about my applications. I am drawing my work for art and it is already 10.46 pm here. :frowning: But I have quite a lot of time until January so I don’t complain.
Good luck with your applications. :)

@MediDuet thanks you too! But I still have an essay to write for school and a chapters worth of notes to take over the break. I’m just happy to have a four day weekend to get my school work AND parts of my application done. Thank goodness I have until January too :)

I found this on the UWC facebook today “We are excited to announce that two new colleges, UWC Dilijan in Armenia and UWC Robert Bosch College in Freiburg, Germany, have received Final Approval from the UWC International Board to open in September 2014. Here is a map showing all the UWC schools and colleges to download. In addition, the proposed UWC Changshu China has received Preliminary Approval from the Board.”
