UWC applicants year 2014

@MediDuet, thank you! There are definitely some blogs that I haven’t read yet, so I know what I’ll be doing for the rest of the day :slight_smile:
@Chelinakp, thanks for answering! I’ve been curious about that for a while, so its nice to hear that its not a big problem. And cheap pizza sounds pretty good :)

@MediDuet thank you so much for posting the blogs! I also spend lots of free time reading blogs, websites, and yes, on YouTube. I just can’t seem to get enough of these schools!!!

@MediDuet, that shows some serious dedication! There goes my whole month… but it’s to a good cause ;)

I’ve had a question that has been worrying me for a while:
My dad is in the military so I’ve been moving around since I was born and yes that mean I’ve lived in more than one country. So my question is, do you think this will lower my chances of getting in? It scares me because I’ve already seen and lived with all kinds of people and I feel like people will think I won’t be able to represent my country as well. What do all of you think?

@Santoast13, at worst, that will make no difference, but that might even help you. If you’ve lived in a lot of places you should be able to gel with other cultures better (Does that make sense?). They would probably find out during the team games and stuff if you get shortlisted. And what country are you from?

@RipCity14, I see your point. :slight_smile:
@tecz77, @Santoast13, you are welcome!
@Pashay, thank you! I hope the Committee can see that also.
@Santoast13, I don’t think that will hurt your chances. You’ve lived in more countries so you already have a better understanding about cultures and so on.
I’ve been on an exchange project two years ago for a week. I thought it was going to hurt my chances that I already got a chance to go abroad from my school. But then it came to my mind that I am going to write it into my essay to the part where they ask what influenced me. Because that trip definiately influenced me in a good way. That showed me what an international environment is really like and made me want to be in an environment like that even more. So I think these are positive things!

I feel like such a bad applicant compared to you guys, I’m pretty average in grades, I haven’t done so many volunteering hours and the most culturally experiencing activities I have ever had are my yearly trips back to India… I just really, really want to go. :(

@RipCity14 @MediDuet thanks for answering! That makes me feel better
@RipCity14 I’m from the USA

@aureleo, don’t worry! You must be special in a way but you probably don’t realise that because you live with that ‘speciality’ every day. You must be brave and willing to do something if you apply! Do everything you can and the rest is up to your National Committee!

@aureleo, from what my friends tell me, extra curriculars aren’t all that important.

@aureleo I heard that you don’t need endless hours of volunteer work and ECs, as long as you show that you are a dedicated person, to anything really.

@aureleo me too! My grades aren’t amazing, and i don’t do much volunteering! You’re not the only one ehheheh! :slight_smile: keep smiling!

Are you guys all amazing passionate writers?

I have trouble displaying passion in writing, in fact, do I even have passion for anything ??? Everyone here seem so lovely :))) and female… Is everyone female ?? I ammm

@Hedwig8, well I don’t like to boast… :P

@Hedwig8 didn’t see your second post. I’m a guy and I actually thought most here seemed male. You probably have a passion for joining MUWCI if you are on forums about it :P

@Ripcity wuut that’s so interesting all the psychological links man !! Yeah my only passion is for education :(( and you’re bloody lucky !! Im not the worst writer but I’m certainly not the best dammit

@Hedwig8 yes I’m female too :slight_smile: and I made my 8th grade teacher cry over a fictional essay I had to write one time

@Hedwig8 see now I pegged Santoast13 as a guy. No idea why. And I’m hoping you’re teacher was crying because it was so good Santoast :stuck_out_tongue:

And Hedwig don’t worry too much about coming off as passionate. Everytime I talk to my friends they say DON’T LIE, just be honest whether it’s the interview or the Apps. I personally am not very academically inclined and my grades will show it. I have my sweet spots though and I do great in English, History and Physics, but not so much in everything else.

@Santoast13 haha nope I’m a girl. And yea, I was the only one in my class to get a perfect score :slight_smile: surprisingly enough, math is my best subject… I can’t stand it, though
