UWC applicants year 2014

@lalalarae haha thanks for the advice! but I must admit I’m more of a dance person than a sports person… I absolutely love to dance :)

@farmgirlmoo THAT IS AWESOME!! I’m from Penang!!! haha most Malaysians would consider Cameron Highlands one of the coldest places in Malaysia :stuck_out_tongue: Imagine comparing that to the UK! :stuck_out_tongue: Glad you enjoyed your stay here! :)

WAAAA! oh my god! crazzzyyyy! the temperature in Cameron highlands is about an average day in Wales!:’)

@Dancingdaisy Hmmm, anyway I love multilingual cultures, I think you can learn so much from them.

@farmgirlmoo I do love me a bit of Leo DiCaprio, but I think they just put a face to the name at the time for his looks… I really didn’t like Claire Danes as Juliet. Have you read Warm Bodies? That’s an amazing book, I love it!

@Hedwig8 I loved Gone, but that’s the only one I have read - I read the whole thing in like 6 hours because my eyes were glued to the book!

@farmgirlmoo hahaha! and it’s like that all year round - with a few rainy seasons :)

Potential interview question: “How can you contribute to UWC?”
I’ve been thinking about it a lot for the past few days…care to share your thoughts? :)

@Dancingdaisy That was one of the essay questions on the GB application, I think it’s different for different people. I wrote about sharing my opinions and experience. Have you thought about anything in particular?

@aureleo I have, it’s pretty similar to yours, but I’m still uncertain about it…I think UWC is composed of young people who are strong-willed and passionate, and they all want to do something to help make the world a better place. So in a way UWC is a ‘melting pot’ of people from all walks of life who are in the same mind. I guess we could all contribute to UWC (with all our different backgrounds and uniqueness) together to create something better out of our world…being in a UWC, we would be able to share our different perspectives…etc.
gosh it doesn’t even make sense  sigh

@Dancingdaisy No it does make sense, and I totally agree with you, that’s what really amazes me - a complete culture overload, but I think that’s what we need to help make the world a better place.

@RipCity14 The one here for Jamaica is free online.
@Dancingdaisy that is exactly what one of our essay questions say. I basically said how Jamaica being a diverse and multicultural place has given me experience in interacting with persons of different backgrounds.

Hey guys  I’m back! It’s Only 6 in the morning here which means school…
@hedwig8 the gone series is great!

@dancingdaisy for your essay question you can look at the missions and values of uwc/your top choice uwcs on their web sites and see which ones affect you. Write about how you can bring these to your uwc and the culture stuff is good to add as well!

@aureleo @okp1000 Thanks for your input! It’s not really an essay for our application, I was just wondering if the question would be asked in the interview

@lalalarae Good morning! its 8pm over here. Thanks! I’m quite interested in UWC-USA, as they have quite an emphasis on performing arts (if I’m not mistaken) and they are one in a handful of IB schools that offer IB dance. I would really like to do dance as a subject for IB. UWC-USA would be the best, but I won’t mind any of the UWCs too - they’re all equally great!

Is everyone asleep now that I’m awake?

@Dancingdaisy I can’t remember if it was this forum or the one from last year but someone posted a number of possible interview questions.

@Santoast13 Not yet! It’s dinner time over here :)

@okp1000 Oh I see… Ooops! I think I’ve seen a few forums with possible interview questions…but I guess I was just thinking about this one a lot :)

@santoast13 I’m awake and avoiding school work :P

@dancingdaisy I think I do remember seeing more stuff about dance and the preforming arts over on the USA website

@Santoast13 Nope, I just finished school over here.
@Dancingdaisy I wonder if theyw oils ask it - maybe it depends as they could ask it to match up to your essay or just really see what you would contribute if mot on the application. I thought RCN was quite performing arts based as they always have short films and plays etc on YouTube. Oooh I would love to go to UWC USA but Pearson is my first choice  what’s yours, if you don’t mind me asking?

They would*

Do you guys know any of the specific focuses in wilderness/environmental at Maastricht and Mostar and mahindra? We shold make a list :)
