UWC USA have outstanding music and drama facilities, i think!

@aureleo my first three choices are UWC-USA, Atlantic and Pearson I heard that Pearson has specializations on marine biology as its by the sea. It only admits students on FULL scholarship I’m not quite sure about RCN, but I know Adriatic has a Music Scholar’s programme for those who are really good at music… but those who get into the programme are really good musicians…correct me if I’m wrong

@farmgirlmoo yeah, from what I’ve collected from the UWC USA website, I think they have pretty good performing arts facilities. Is UWC USA one of your choices?

yes, but i think my ideal would be Bosnia, although my top few are Bosnia, India, Africa, USA:)

@farmgirlmoo Bosnia is one of my op choices too!

@dancingdaisy I’ve heard that while they send talented musicians to the Adriatic they also send many people who don’t even have musical inclination

@lalalarae snap!!! :D

@farmgirlmoo do you know the focus of the wilderness studies and stuff in bosnia? Are te dorms still separate from the school

@lalalarae sorry I’m not sure about the focus of the wilderness studies. I probably should know:/ but nope, sorry and the dorms are separate, yes! they are two houses in the Mostar about 5-10 minutes walk from the college! Sorry i’m really now much help!

@farmgirlmoo, It was 11:35 pm here. (23:25 :P)
@lalalarae, I am very late but thank you! Godd for you! Here it is dark by 5 pm
Ripcity: Our apps are online but we have to print some of it and send back by post and we also have a fee.
@dancingdaisy, I’ll write similar things to my apps, cause we have the same question for an essay. But I think I’ll write some more special things like I can show there a bit of folk music and things like that.

(And now comes my novel, sorry for that)
I also find the language differences interesting. I think what will be even difficult are the accents. I care about accents because my theacher made me do so in 9th grade and I remained like that. I can understand almost all of them. (that I had the opportunity to listen to)
We had a pretty good English education in 9th grade so we learnt a looot of things. We had a lesson where we studied about UK English and American English. So I feel lucky because of this I can understand which one is the topic based on where you are from. We also learnt words like subway and underground, cookies biscuits, toilet and restroom and so on.

And today I came home from school at 5 pm with thoughts about how I am going to survive this evening knowing that I’ll write three big and two smaller tests tomorrow. Then I came here and found 110 new posts. I read them in 20 minutes while taking notes about my answers to some of you. And now I can start revising for the tests. If I succeed I think I might be able to handle IB.
And my new tactic will be to read the posts before I go to school and when I come back also.

What does your school day consist of? how many lessons, how long a break? :)

@farmgirlmoo, I go to school around 7.30 lessons start at 8.00. every lesson is 45 minutes long and the breaks are 15 or 10 minutes long with a 30 minutes long lunch break. There are 6-8 lessons each day in the offical timetable of my class. Then we are strongly recommended to attend additional lessons in subjects that we are talented at. At least two but when a teacher asks you to join theirs you can’t really say no. That’s why I am at maths physics, biology and chemistry at the same time. I am also in school choir plus two lessons. I am lucky to have only 6 on Monday so right after school a run to catch te bus to go to my flute lesson and after that back to the school for choir. On Thuesday I have 7 lessons and piano lesson until 4pm. On Wednesday I have nine lessons at school. On Thuesday I have 8 lessons after that chambre music until 5.15pm. On Friday I have only 6 lessons and then training until 4. That’s basically my timetable.
What about yours?

@farmgirlmoo it’s fine thanks though I couldn’t find much information on it but I k ow they do have fabulous project weeks

And now I can start revising and writing homework. And good news for me, our French test was cancelled, so only four tests tomorrow. :D

@mediduet wow that is a rigorous schedule! And the accents in English are different even around the US! I have 7 classes/day and try are the same every day [50 minutes/class] our only break is a 20 minute lunch break and we are at school from 7 in the morning to 1:45 in the afternoon we have the four core cOurses (math, science, history, and English [literature, grammar, and language]) we have three elective courses in which I take Latin an extra history and a class called gifted. The rest of the world is so lucky because they don’t have to have American history! European and world history is great though!

WOW YOUR DAY IS SO LONG! I live a while away from school, so I get up at 6:30 and leave at 7:30 when most people get up at 8/8:30. School starts at 9, and there is registration, or choir until 9:20. Then i have one lesson for an hour. after that, there is a twenty minute break, although i usually spend it running errands for teachers. (grr)! Then i have another two lessons, each one an hour. Then there is an hour lunch, but i don’t have any lunchtimes left. I have chamber choir on monday and wednesday lunch times; senior choir on tuesday and thursday, and then italian lesson on friday. After school I sometimes have drama (on tues, weds, thurs) and will get home at 10pm, but on other days i have nothing, and get home at 5pm. but your day seems so much more busy!

By the way i’m not skiving drama, it was cancelled tonight!

Woow I never get home so late. The latest is 5.45 but I leave home at 7.15. My days might be busy but I don’t think they are anywhere close to a day at UWC.
@lalalarae, we basically learn everything in History. We start at ancient times and finish it somewhere in the 1990s. We learn Asian, European, American and world history. It is quite complex and hard sometimes, but not bad at all. :)

@mediduet we have the same kind of requirements for histor but we use AP and AICE courses I have to wake up at 5 in the morning for school but it starts at 7 during swim season I don’t leave school until 6. I used to be in band and stay at school until 9:30!

@lalalarae, oh God! That must be hard! Can I ask what AP and AICE mean?
But the advantage is that it won’t be foreign staying at school late and doing horework even later at UWC for all of us who have timetables like this.

@lalalarae, I know that Mahindra has a lot of activites about wilderness and the environment. I know that they have a HUUUUGE bio reserve with a BUNCH of different species of plants and animals, then they have their own sort of farm where they grow vegetables and stuff and they’re trying to become self sustainable. Also, since the place they’re in is prone to forest fires, they have a fire service made out of students. So you have to train and stuff to enter and if there is a forest fire you have to put it out. That’s pretty much the coolest thing I ever heard.
