@lalalarae I’m seeing a lot of people talking about music and Adriatic. Do they have a music program? Also do you know if they accept those not in music then? Thanks

You guys need to chill with the Harry Potter stuff. I’ve watched a little of the movies and it’s good, but not earth shattering great or anything.

And is anyone planning on going to MUWCI?

@awkwardbirdie, my app is due on February 14th (India).

And does every national committee offer the Davis Scholarship? I know India does, and the USA.

@ripcity14 the UK doesn’t have the Davis Scholarship, sadly!

@farmgirlmoo, you have other scholarships though right?

@smelltheroses91, I want to go to Adriatic sooo bad! That is my first choice. I just totally love that College. I am quite obsessed with that one.
@imready4this, yes, they do have a music program. From what I’ve heard it is like a conservatory. And they accept people who are not that good at music or don’t even study music. This whole music program is just an amazing extra.

Elaborating a bit on the Davis scholarship:
The scholarship sort of has two parts:
- The Davis scholarship is for US citizens applying to the UWCs. The only way for US citizens to get into a UWC is through the Davis scholarship, which is a full scholarship, so it covers all tuition. We cant apply to UWCs directly and there are no partial scholarships.
- However, a part of the scholarship states that any graduate of a UWC-- no matter what country they’re originally from-- who wishes to attend college/university in the USA, can be awarded a small scholarship if they choose to attend one of 91 colleges in the US approved by the Davis Scholarships.

@tecz77, I didn’t get that. I read it before as well. Will they only offer the scholarship if you plan on going to one of the 91 colleges that they have approved? And what if after getting the scholarship I decide to just go to another college?

@RipCity14, Basically, if you’re a US student and you get a place at a UWC, your place will be fully funded.
As a UWC graduate, from any of the UWCs and no matter your nationality, if you wish to go study at one of 91 approved universities in the US, you can get a Davis Scholarship which will cover part of the fees. (This is what I understood!).

@akwardbirdie918, In the UK, our application deadline has been extended (it was November 13th) to December 6th. We find out if we have an interview on December 20th (what a Christmas present!), and interviews are 7-10th of January. The final answer is on February 1st. It’s so cool that you find out so early here!! Wooohooo!

Whoeverr was asking (can’t remember, sorry
), I’ve never been on an international exchange program, but after spending the first 7 years of my life in the UK, my family moved to Tunisia in North Africa and we lived there for 8 years: I believe that counts as an ‘international experience’
We just moved back to the UK this summer.

@Ripcity14, sorry for the confusion. Pashay explained it perfectly, though. If you dont go to one of the 91 partner colleges in the US, you dont get the scholarship (though I think you might be able to request adding colleges to the list, so if you want to go to a US college not on the list you might still be able to get money). The scholarship is need-based and to the best of my knowledge, is awarded AFTER the recipient gets into one of the 91 colleges. The scholarship is not specifically to the student, but rather the school, so its awarded only after you’ve confirmed that you’re going to one of the colleges and are pretty much locked in. So, if what you were asking is can you take the scholarship money and switch colleges at the last minute to go to a better one, the answer is no. However, there are many partner institutions, and they are all well-respected (and for those of you who mentioned it earlier- Ivies such as Harvard ARE on the list). Here’s a list of the partner institutions if anyone is interested:

@Imready4this like MediDuet said the Adriatic is known for their music program. This is a link to the music program on their site: [MUSIC ACTIVITIES 2012-2013](http://www.uwcad.it/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=528&Itemid=592)

I just read the page that I put a link up for… Now I want to go to AD more
that is a very good music program!

@lalalarae, yay a fellow Adriatic enthusiast!
Sorry for this question, but are you the one who plays clarinet?

@lalalarae Thanks!
it sounds really good.

@MediDuet Yes! I am the clarinetist
do you play an instrument?

@Imready4this You’re welcome
Are you a musician? Are you planning on auditioning for the advanced ensemble if you are selected for AD?

I play piano, I sing, and I’m teaching myself ukulele, but I don’t want my National Committee to send me to Adriatic, though it’s awesome, because I’ve already lived in the Mediterranean for over half my life (literally, Tunisia in lots of ways is very similar to Italy and it’s actually really close with just a bit of sea in between!) so if I went abroad I’d prefer to go somewhere new! Also you have to learn Italian and I would prefer not to so I don’t mix it up with my Spanish and French
Sadly, they do neither Geography or Spanish (I believe) both of which I’d like to do :(

@lalalarae I play piano, but I stopped at level 8 for testing. I really want to learn guitar. But I don’t plan on auditioning for advanced ensemble. I really enjoy theatre. :)

@Pashay, I play guitar and I’m teaching myself ukulele AS WELL!

@lalalarae @Mediduet
I knew you two were special! I’ve been dying to go to adriatic since i heard about it!!! Although it’s not as well known… they are known for their amazing world arts program and music!

that’s pretty much me right there lol… although i need to get back into music! I played flute for two years??? three… then i got braces. Way to kill a talent trust me!

It looks like the kids in the US get so much more info than we do! In Canada they basically give you a vague application and you have no idea where or how anything is going on until you get accepted for interviews.
I REALLY HOPE YOU ALL GET IN! If you do you gotta update us! Canadian applicants don’t know a thing until midway Feb. Lucky ducks you!

@smelltheroses, Indian’s don’t find out till March

@imready4this, it’s the opposite for me, I play guitar but I want to learn soprano sax, or trumpet or piano.

@pashay AH! I keep forgeting to check if the schools that I like have the classes that I want! That would be pretty important :P
