Sigh,
Everything gets harder and harder with UWC! Not only is it more than difficult to get in but then the money! I really hope they give full scholarships

@smelltheroses91, they do, but very few. @lalalarae was telling me every US student gets a full scholarship. That sounds great.

^Yeah, that’s true. Im from the US so that’s why UWC has a huuuuuge appeal to me. Awesome opportunity.

@WorldViewer I see…I’m already pretty old for my grade right now though. Been 17 for a while…just dunno if I should keep on extending high school. I’d be around 20 and graduating…

I just wish there was a gap year opportunity like this! ahh

so regret not looking into this sooner

@Nnormal, I’m 17 as well. Feb '96, I would be 18 at the start of next school year so 20 when I graduate. If I don’t get in this year, I’m planning on nailing my board exams and trying again for 2015-16. I’d graduate when I’m 21. If they take me when I’m 19 that is.

^So are you in your last year of high school/secondary school right now? Or just really old for your grade?

and wow good luck to ya!

@Nnormal, I’m doing 10th grade, I’m two years behind.

oh okay see im already in 11th :/

@Nnormal yeah they said they only accept kids in 10th or 11th, but they are very leniant, very understanding, who knows. You can still get in, but if you don’t, just as them if you can get it after you finish 12th grade.

@Austin96, MUWCI has theatre course in the 6th subject group. But that’s all I know.

I am also sad because I can’t study physics, biology and chemistry at the same time. I prefer physics to geography and history. But something for something.

@Nnormal As long as you think UWC will be beneficial to you in the long run (which I think it definitely will be for me!) then it should be fine to take a gap year! many colleges like it when students take a gap year because it makes them more mature. On the US site it says that equal thought is given to both 10th graders and 11th graders; although a couple of people have told me preference is given to 11th graders (it isn’t true)

@ripcity14 I read (on a blog of course :P) that a girl was given her 21st birthday at UWC so they do accept people older than 10th and 11th grades!

@lalalarae, yeah I think I read that too. Just think of the age difference. People aged like 15-21 in two years of school.

@lalalarae, my Committee does not accept students who are 19 years old when they start UWC. This is why I have only one opportunity to apply.

@MediDuet, woah did you mail them or something?

@ripcity14 that is a HUGE difference (especially being on the younger side of the scale) but I think the older students would just be more annoyed by the younger (immature) students… I’m sure most 2nd years are annoyed by first years anyway :P

@MediDuet wow! good luck this time then
I guess some of the committees are more strict than others…

@lalalarae, nah it’s all very chill, and they become very close and stuff. Would be pretty crap because after 1 year, the second years are gone and like I said you become really close.

@ripcity14 thats sad
at least you have places to visit! all of the time!

@RipCity14, no, when I started my application it was a requirement. It is not fair I think because if your birthday is on the 5th of september for example then you can apply. If your birthday is on the 31st august for example you can not. But if I got rejected I’d try mailing them.
@lalalarae, thank you! Good luck to you as well.

@MediDuet I’ve always thought that everything in the education department should be a little more flexible about birth date… I am rejected from many opportunities because I barely make the cut off for my year! are you near the cut off?
