@MediDuet, mail them and ask. I also am not eligible because the form says I need to be born on September 1996 or later to apply. I asked them though, and they said no problem.

@ripcity14 Your national committee must love you!

the UK committee has said over and over that you cannot apply if you would be over the age of 19 at the end of the two years!

@lalarae, well they didn’t use those exact words, it was more like

Dear Karan,

Thank you for showing your interest in the UWCs.

You can apply to us even though you are born in Feb, 96.

I’m still lovable though.

And to everyone else, just because it says so on the site, doesn’t make it true. Mail and ask them to be sure.

@lalalarae, I was born in July. I am a year late in school because I started it when I was 7. And here, you are allowed to start school at 6 years of age if you were born from May to January. So I am two months late for that and I am two months early for UWC. I guess I am in the middle.

@MediDuet, how old are you if you don’t mind me asking?

I’m really scared on what they’ll think about my essay. I don’t know if it’s a good enough topic. I feel like a lot of ppl are writing about something huge that they did on their own, I don’t know if I measure up to that.

@Santoast13, don’t worry about other people. Just write the truth. That’s the biggest thing. I have heard this from people soooo many times. People who are in UWC. Someone who got in on the first try, and someone who didn’t even get shortlisted the first time round. Don’t try to be someone else, you don’t need to use big or fancy words, just be yourself.

@RipCity14, it ok, I am 17. :)

@santoast13 its okay my essays arent about something huge. Mine are pretty small things but they mean a lot to me. Try not to write to impress but to show yourself like RipCity14 said. Good luck!

I’m worried about international background. I’ve never studied abroad or lived in multiple countries. And I only have memories of visiting two countries before. One for avery short amount of time. Does anyone know if UWC favors those with lots of international background? And do you have this kind of background?

I’m still applying no matter what; I’m just a little worried :P

I’m really glad that I’m not the only one who is older
I really love UWC but the only thing that scares me a little bit is that (if I got accepted and because I’m a year older) I would feel bad when the second years would finish their year that I would feel like It could have been me finishing already and the thought that all my friends at home would be done already.

@imready4this I don’t think they prefer them, but I just think they are the ones that learn about the program. I learned about UWC because my cousin is an alumni, and she has an international background. They just come in contact with international exchanges.

Wow I’ve missed a bit (35 pages…)! I’ve been so busy writing all of my other applications for college/mocks I haven’t even been able to do anything non school related…
I’m quite literally counting down the days to the 20th of December when we get notified if we have an interview or not. Ugh I hate playing the waiting game…

Also I found a really nifty site for all of the UWC blogs found by a future UWC’er!
[url=http://connorbaer.org/the-blog-list]The UWC Blog List | Connor B

@aureleo, nice to have you back, and yes that blog list is amazing! @lalalarae posted it a while back but some new people have joined so they can see it now
And wow, 19 days left. Now I’m counting down with you.

@WorldViewer, and international background isn’t that important, many people don’t have the means to travel a lot and stuff so it isn’t exactly vital. And yeah I get you, all of my friends are graduating from school next summer and will be off too college, but hey, I don’t care how old I am, how many years behind I am, I’ll be happy in UWC. One of the biggest things was that my age wouldn’t be a problem there. As in kids wouldn’t make fun of you or anything.

@aureleo i’m so nervous too! wahhh, i think you’re more likely than me! but still scared! omg, i can be so impatient! ¬¬

@aureleo thanks for the link! :)

@ripcity14 I just re-read like 30 pages to catch up haha! Thanks for the welcome back, see this is why this thread is beyond awesome (due to the amazing people on it)

@farmgirlmoo Woo for finding you on instagram (I think we already followed each other though) and I really don’t think am! I mean I know I really shouldn’t compare but sometimes you just end up doing it anyway - I’m not best in my year, I didn’t make it past my grade 2 in piano because of other commitments and the only languages I speak are English, Hindi (albeit its very regional) and GCSE standard German. D:

@imready4this you’re welcome!

I also thought I’d list my top 5, a little late but why not :)

Pearson

RCN

UWC USA

MUWCI

AD

@aureleo INSTAGRAM YAYAYYY! and hahah yeah, i compare myself so much. Sounds good to me though! just 3 weeks of school…

@aureleo, finally someone else who has MUWCI on at least their top 5. I think you and I are the only people who want to go there.
