@worldviewer hi! :)

@Dancingdaisy Hello :D

HI, A QUESTION:
Do the schools themselves have scholarship funds, or just the National Committees?

Not a very important question, but worth asking, haha!

Woooohoooooo! My application is officially DONE and submitted. Now all I can do is wait :O

@farmgirlmoo, YESSSS!!! Thank you, I was just about to ask that. I’m not too sure, because I know that if you apply directly to a school instead of through your National Committee, you don’t get a scholarship. But I don’t know if that’s because you forfeit it or they just don’t have one.

@farmgirlmoo @RipCity14 first of all they prefer that you apply through your National Committee. And only the nc gives scholarships. When I went to the infoday in my country they told me that when you got accepted but you don’t have enough money for the school they selected for you and there are no more scholarships you can go to the office in London and they have some extra places in some schools. So it is possible to go through the office in London, but then you have to pay everything yourself and you have to be accepted by your nc. I don’t know if this is the same for other countries, but I think so.

@WorldViewer, so if you get accepted, but don’t have money, they send you to another school on a scholarship?

And to whoever else didn’t want to join the group on Facebook because it was public, we now have a completely private group with only people from this message board. Let me know if you wanna join.

@RipCity14 they send you to another school, but without scholarship. And I would like to join the facebookgroup :)

@WorldViewer, that seems kinda silly doesn’t it? If you don’t have the money to go to the school of your choice, what good is it to got another school. You probably wouldn’t be able to afford that either.

And I just sent you a private message with my facebook profile. Add me.

@RipCity14 no, it’s like when they choose an expensive school for you that you can’t afford and they don’t have any scholarships left. You can go to the office in London, and maybe they still have a free place at a less expensive school (which you can afford)

okp1000,
Most UWC students go home for winter break (about 3 weeks) and for the summer. A few wealthy ones might also travel home during fall break or spring break (5-7 days) or for Thanksgiving but that is unusual. Most students stay with “get away families”, stay on campus, travel independently or go on school sponsored trips. Some students can’t afford to travel home even during winter or summer break. They stay with host families or work on the school campuses. We hosted a girl from Lebanon one year for winter break. :)

@RipCity14 I would like to join the Facebook group

@earlybluebird if you message me I can also add you to the group :)

we have a fb group???111 WHAT! YES!!! GO LALAARAE!

@smelltheroses91 I cant take the credit
although I was part of the secret group scheming @ripcity14 created it :)

@smelltheroses91 and @earlybluebird, yes we do have a ‘secret group’ (love saying that), if you’d private message me or my trusty advisory (not that trusty) @lalalarae with your Facebook profile link we will add you and put you in the group :)

@WorldViewer, hmm that’s sounds good, but all the UWCs are pretty pricey. I know I used to go to a school before that was pretty expensive for us, and MUWCI is FOUR TIMES THAT!!!

@RipCity14 I know, it’s kind of the same for me :(

Secret group? Awesome!
so does that mean if you are in the Facebook group, none of you friends can see your in it? Thanks

@imready4this, yes if you’re in the group, only other members of the group will know you’re part of it.

@whoever was asking for a book I know this is late but I suggest Bel Canto by Ann Patchet. I only just started it and it’s amazing. Basically somewhere in South America a party is thrown for a wealthy Japanese business man. During the party, they all get held hostage and the terrorists want the president. A lot of people don’t know the native language either.

@RipCity14 definitely add me!

@Apollo6 I’m writing about how my father is in the US Army and we have some difficulties as a family from him deploying and now he is injured so some things it is hard to do. Also my grandfather died serving. I talk about how it is not only a national and personal concern, but an international one as well. Do you think it is a good topic choice?

I was off cc for a week and I missed so much :(
