UWC applicants year 2014

Hi5! I am from Mumbai too!!! I think I saw you in one of the facebook groups…hmmm…

I’ve just been nominated for a UWC scholarship at Robert Bosch College and I was wondering if, by any chance, is it possible to get rejected?

Congratulations thats amazing!!! Ontario (province of Canada) hasn’t even sent out their interview shortlists yet I can’t imagine already being accepted, good for you!
It is possible, but highly unlikely. The college can reject a student but almost always accepts the recommendation of the national committees. That’s how it is for Pearson College anyway, so I’m assuming it’s the same for Robert Bosch.

This is a very long thread. It seems that the posts might be more useful if it was broken up into different threads next time so that readers could focus on what is relevant to them. Some possibilities might be:

UWC Applicants via India National Committtee
UWC Applicants via USA National Committee
UWC Applicants via UK National Committee
UWC Applicants via Asian National Committees
UWC Applicants via European National Committees
UWC Applicants via Latin American National Committees
UWC Applicants via African National Committees
Questions about UWC campuses
Questions about UWC academics
Questions about UWC cultures
Questions about UWC CAS

This might yield discussions with tens or hundreds of posts instead of thousands.

What are your thoughts about this proposal?

@tornspac Thanks for the reassurance , I really hope so :)

Just wondering if anyone has heard from LPCUWC on the acceptance yet?

So they gave me a partial scholarship (35,000$) which isn’t affordable by my family anyway, do any of you know a fundraising program?

I really need this scholarship, UWC is a dream for me, and I really don’t know how can I end not being admitted to UWC!

Please help me with any information about fundraising

How you fund raise will depend on where you are located. Where are you? Try your country’s Educations Dept., Rotary Club (if any) and any charity you can find online.

Another idea is ask your parents’ employers to see if they help out. My friend’s mom’s company did that.

I decided to start a crowdfunding campaign, here is the link: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/help-me-to-have-the-life-i-dreamed-of-uwc-partial-scholarship/x/7069858</a>

It’d really be great if you can support me in any kind, spread the word for me please!

The above link isn’t working, spread the word please :)

XMasterrrr, best of luck! Did what I can on indiegogo.

Hey I was just wondering if anyone who got an interview can help me out! I’m not really sure how to prepare, like I know they’ll be asking me situational questions about things/ discussions I may experience but, from the point of view of someone who has been interviewed, were there any things you wish you’d knew beforehand? Like tips for staying cool during the one-on-one or for the group session. Thanks so much! Wish everyone the best of luck!

@Kakashaq‌ There is really no way to prepare for them (also, I don’t know where you are from, national committees have vastly different criteria when it comes to choosing new UWC kids)
At this point, just try to be yourself, they will be judging you based on what you have done throughout your life, so an interview can’t really screw you up that much if you have good grades and you have active in your community/sports team/academic organizations, etc.
The key to the interview, is being open and understanding that you could go to an international school where everybody has a different take on life.

Good luck with your interview!
waffleturtle (RCN UWC 10-12’)

@waffleturtle‌ hey thanks for a reply! I’m in Canada btw, but thanks for you advice. I had been planning on just letting it go with the flow and then people started asking me how I was going to prepare and all that and I was like uhhhh I’m meant to prepare? But I’ll definitely be taking your advice and just be open. Thanks!

The UWC Maastricht Expanded the deadline till 1st Of May, I’ve 16 more days to be able to get the “MONEY” I need to make my dream come true for a perfect education & a unique experience, any help is appreciated, even with a share. Help me to have my dream come true :)

Hey Guys!

Im not sure if this chat is still going, but am hoping for a reply!

I am currently a sophomore/year 11 student, age 15. I am going to apply this fall as a junior/year 12 student, in hopes of attending a UWC school fall 2015, for my senior year and gap year. I am a dual citizen of Canada and America, and am wondering which board best to apply through. I am hoping to attend AC, but Adriatic sounds amazing too. My parents only agreed to send me if i receive full scholarship. Through which board would I have the best chance? Are the boards the only place to receive scholarship or will the individual colleges (such as AC) award scholarships as well?

I am unsure if my credentials will grant me a scholarship…maybe you guys could help me out and tell me if I am lacking in any category?

As far as school goes, I have done fairly well all my years of school. I currently have a 3.8 unweighted/ 4.3 weighted GPA. I go to one of the most highly regarded all girls schools in US, which is very academically challenging, and also excels in athletics. I take all honors classes and plan to take 3 AP classes next year. My school has very strict rules and is quite old fashioned, being a girls catholic school, but has helped me build character.

I have not taken the SAT/ACT yet, but in the prediction tests I took for them, I was predicted at a 30/36 for the ACT and 2050 for the SAT. Not the highest scores, but I did not study for the prediction tests, so if I study a ton for the real thing next year I should achieve higher.

I was born in Singapore, and resided in South-East Asia for the first 2 1/2 years of my life. I then moved to the States, and returned back to Asia when I was 9, to live in Shanghai, China. All of this was done because of my fathers job. Living in Shanghai allowed me to develop as a person and gain a wide cultural understanding and acceptance. I now live in the US again, and am very grateful for the years I spent abroad. Since I have been back, I realized that I want to live overseas again, and that is why I think UWC is right for me.

Being an expat child has made me more mature, and also given me better speaking skills. I am very comfortable speaking to adults and in front of large groups so I hope this will help me in the interview portion :)

here are some of my EC’s/ Achievements
-varsity cross country for grade 9 and 10
-jv track grade 9
-jv lacrosse grade 10
-fluent in Mandarin (next year I will be taking AP mandarin), which surprises many people because I am caucasian
-vice president of transfer club at my school
-I have been taking art classes my whole life and have won various contests and awards for my artwork
-part of numerous clubs at my school
-I nanny for austic children
-lifeguard

I volunteered in China at different orphanages over the years, and went on various service trips, but am currently not doing any community service. I might volunteer somewhere junior year.

Sorry this is so long, I am very anxious and excited for me and the other applicants applying this coming year :)

Congrats to all who are going! I’ll be attending UWC-AC '14-'16! Anyone else?

Hey, I know this is kind of late and this thread is more or less dried up but I’m kinda curious on who else got accepted. I got in and want to talk to some of my new class mates!! In anycase pm me if you wanna skype or something.

Hi, i am an Egyptian student looking forward to applying for UWC in 2015 , any advice ?
