Hi,
Me too on 6th .
See you .

hello im in group A too. Nice to see you here ^^

Could you explain that a bit more?

aah…no swimming…i was really looking forward to it…
anyways…ssmonster…thanku soo much…datll be great help…
however…kn u shed some light upon hw d aptitude test is gona be like,… ???
ooh if we have ppl like you around us dat day…itll be a great experience for sure… :D

Seems like you guys have a vibrant community here :D

Just out of curiosity, how does one apply to MUWCI and what fields is it good in?

Hey what’s the climate like there??

and to apply, we just send a mail to them to show we’re interested, then send a draft and they’ll send the application form back… really nice questions i loved them :)

@Tizil7: I might be assuming, but the ‘what field’ part of your question makes me believe you’re thinking MUWCI is a college… Its a school… but its in Maharahstra so its a junior college… 11th and 12th basically… Its International Baccalaureate, and though a school isn’t really known for a specific field as far as I know, I think the physics and psychology teachers are awesome!!

The climate… well… when you come right now it will be very hot!! If you’re lucky you might even get to see a forest fire in the nearby valley, its that hot! But I assure you its an amazing sight! During the rainy season, which is when you’ll start attending, the campus will look nothing like it does right now. It will be way greener, prettier and cooler in general. Though it does get muddy and wet and rain boots are highly recommended! The winter is pretty decent so nothing special for that time… might get cold in the mornings, especially when you have to wake up at 7 for school…

@Ankita05: Thanks! And I totally know who you are now!! (Sounds stalkerish, I know!!) but we were going through the list of applicants for this year and three names struck me from CC… yours, Adarsh and Freddy! And now I know why I have such a random display name on CC!! :p

Okay so the aptitude test is definitely nothing to worry about. Its more for the sake of removing some of the arbitrariness in the selection procedure. With so many amazing applicants, the admissions committee really wants to admit more people than it can and sometimes the decision between selecting one candidate over the other seems arbitrary… well because it kind of is… The aptitude test is just a tool that the selection committee is experimenting with (yes its new!) to differentiate between all the people who would be excellent fits for this college. Its not really a test, in the sense that you can’t prepare for it, but I’m sure you all are already prepared…

@Adarsh and everyone else: What I mean is that living in a small community of 200 people isn’t for everyone. While driving/being driven to campus you will realize how far away the campus is from Pune, so most of your life for the next 2 years would revolve around the same 250 - 300 ish people, which isn’t something everyone can do.
People are really friendly and welcoming and you will definitely make friends during INC and your first week at MUWCI, but you also have to be a little outgoing and social to sustain those friendships beyond the orientation week. No one tries to impose anything on anyone, so if you would rather stay in your room and study or watch a movie rather than going out and socializing, its up to you… but then you’d be missing out on what this place really is…
The classes are the smallest part of what makes this place great, academically its just any other school… a good one maybe, but still just a school. Its the people who come here who make it special, and unless you are willing to learn something from everyone around you, the other students from all over, the teachers, the school guards and the housekeeping… all of them are a valuable part of the community, but making full use of what this place offers is totally up to you…

In no way is coming here for a great IB education a bad thing, but this place just has soo much more to offer, and to exploit that potential is something that not everyone can do. Rest assured, the selection committee knows this, and the admission decision is more a judgement on if you would like being here and would make the best of this place that on your abilities or what you have or can achieve. If you’re accepted, I am sure you can adapt to this place perfectly and will love it here. I assure you that you’ll have a love-hate relationship with this place for the next two years, but it will be an experience that you will never forget.

Okay some interesting information on demographics… (I have no idea why we found all this out, but we would procrastinate with anything over studying for the IB exams! )

Delhi Public School (Including its millions of branches) is easily the most overrepresented school on the list… just like it is everywhere. For a single school branch though… its Sanskriti, Delhi all the way!!

Most of the people are from (well its pretty guessable) : Mumbai, Pune and Delhi, and Bangalore is pretty well represented too…

Special mention: Andhra Pradesh a surprising number this year!! Also Kuwait and Dubai… surprising names on a list for Indian NC, but probably NRIs…

Best of luck to all of you! And looking forward to seeing you guys on campus!!

Damn that is a long post!!

WHOOAAAAAAAAA…!!!
thankyu…this kind of info…no blog no site can provide us…!!!
hahaha…“stalkerish”/… :P…
so…no more stressing on aptitude test…!!!
well…interview seems more of a conversation…uve relaxed me a lot…
now all i got to figure out is my 5 mins speech…n ya pull myslef…for some good debates, discusssions and ya most eye catching of all…team games…whoaa…it sounds damn fun!!! super-excited

well…dps n sanskriti dominate delhi’s brightest students…no doubt abt dat…
i wonder thou, why din anyone of them check this blog out…its among the top 3 searches under MUWCI !!!
these children dominate most of competitons and discussions ive been to!!!
NRIs dats news to me…
btw is it true…arund 40 applicants get through??
and how many overseas offered are made ??? any idea…!!!
youve been a great help to all of us here…(sigh …i still wanted to swim… )

Tizil

If you google MUWCI, you will find out everything about this place. It is a private IB school on the outskirts of Pune.

*offers!!!

What I meant was one can have a look at the place for real and read up from the official forum.

@anialways: Tizil7 is going to UC-Berkeley, if I remember correctly… Definitely too late to check out MUWCI!!

Its been around 40 people in the past but they’re planning to take a little more if the administration thinks the new construction here will be complete… so this year might be 5o to 55 in total with about 10 going to other UWC’s.

Most people apply specifically to MUWCI and make it clear during INC… like I probably wouldn’t have attended any other.

Also scholarships at other UWC’s are way more restricted than they are at MUWCI for Indian applicants, so sometimes getting into other UWC’s is easier if you’re paying the full thing, than it is to get into MUWCI… Which ones are you considering though?

If you guys are in an adventurous mood, and if you’re allowed to leave campus (oh I should ask them this tomorrow!!) then we can always go on a hike to the Mula river. Its pretty close to campus, and you’ll get to see a lot of the valley… though summer’s already started and its not nearly as green as it would be in August.

50 almst half of us then…
ur idea seems pretty much fun…i guess we all would love dat!!!
i was reading that muwci has its own bio reserve park…
u guys live just in the heart of nature!!!
sounds like my dream place!!!
well i ticked off partial scholarship …u can change that during your interview…and ya even the college prefences??
coz i was mainly aiming at uwcsea or uwc hong kong…but muwci…seems thrilling enough!! :)

Ssmonter (super saiyan? ), yes, I didn’t know what MUWCI was, but thanks for telling me. It’s much clearer now.

Good Luck to all of you!

ssmonster

It is never too late to learn about new things in life. Maybe Tizil can think of sending his kids there one day and , as for me, I can send my grand kids. Just kidding…
I am a parent and my D is already in college. But that does not stop me from learning new things everyday. It is never ever too late.

haha yes, now i know of this awesome place :]

@ssmonster Hello!, God I’m weird. Anyways, I just wanted to know, when you applied did you have an personal object you had to describe too? And, I just want to know, can you learn an instrument at MUWCI?
