Just waiting on pins and needles! Hoping to hear sooner then later if my D was accepted to UWC. I can not be alone in my waiting...any ideas when we should hear? I was thinking maybe tomorrow?!

What are your top 3 school choices?

And we’re in! How about you?

Congratulations to you and your daugther…
My son just got accepted also for the New Mexico campus (USA).
I would like to ask for your opinion here, he is all excited about it, But I would like to hear other people’s opinion about the “advantage”, or not, that he can have going to UWC…

In other words, he is doing great at the school, taking all AP classes, etc, but I’m not sure if going to UWC will give him a better options for better Colleges/ Universities in the future? What do you think?

Sorry for the long question… I hope you understand…

My daughter is a first year at UWC USA. The advantages of UWC are more the experience of studying in an international student body than academic. The academics at UWC are good but I don’t know that they are stellar. However, it is a unique experience that your child will probably appreciate forever. Will it lead to higher college acceptance rates? Hard to say. It may… Regardless, even though my daughter had to do another year of high school and add 7 more IB courses to the 7 APs and 1 IB course she had already taken, she is very happy to be there. She is having experiences and learning points of view to which she would never have been exposed. Her younger brother would have gone in a heartbeat but he’ll apply again next year, I hope. No regrets.

Thanks for your point ofview Apollo, I do agree that we will never know for certain if the school increases or not the chances to get accepted in a better school. But Make me feel good how happy sounds your daugther at UWC USA.

Ejara I believe Apollo6 is correct,it is about the experience. Yes the academics are important but it is about having a better understanding of the world around you in a unique way.

As far as your other concerns I have had the same ones but have been talking to the admissions people at the colleges she wants to go to and they think that it is a FANTASTIC opportunity and will NOT hurt her chances of getting fantastic scholarships and placements in their colleges.

I have done a little looking into the Shelby Davis Scholars thing and I am curious if it applies to the US students as well as the international ones? I will have to do some more research.

If anyone else knows what sort of economical advantage it is when applying to colleges that would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Dr.
I’m researching also the scholarship…for future college, if I found more info I will post it here.
