I know this forum focuses on private boarding schools in the US primarily. I was wondering whether anyone has any information regarding the UWC Schools (United World College).

Has/Is anybody in this forum attending any of the colleges? A few posts from a few years ago were helpful but I was looking for something more recent if possible.

I am especially curious about UWC-USA located in Motezuma, New Mexico.

I interviewed for them before deciding to go to a prep school instead. The people I know from the interview who are now attending them seem to be having a fabulous time. A good way to do more research would be to use google blog search and find any student blogs that may be floating around out there.

As far as the New Mexico school goes, lots of outdoor stuff. And New Mexico is the perfect place for that. I’ve spent a lot of time there an it’s a really gorgeous and friendly state, with some really interesting stuff going on.

Hey, there!
I’m a first year student at UWC-USA in New Mexico at the moment, and I’d love to answer whatever questions you might have! I’m from Norway, however, but I know both about this school in the US, the Norwegian one and a couple of the other ones if that’s what you want to know. You can email or PM me, or just write here! I’d love to answer whatever questions you might have =)

What is the Norwegian one like? it looks great on the website. What is the difference in terms of community service (non Red Cross) and global studies?

Hi!! I’m applying to UWC and was actually really interested by the one in Norway! hope I’m not too late in the thread… well, how was your application process? did you have to take written exams from norway? thanks in advance :)

@n60193: Yes, at UWC-USA we were able to. Only two of us chose to (it’s only purpose is really for the NMSC, which only Americans are eligible for), but I ended up winning a $2500 scholarship for it.

Hey guys, I am a junior applying to UWC school through USA. I know they only choose 25-50 students each year and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I have a shot.

I am in the process of making a documentary film. I have shot everything, only editing is left.

Additional Info: I came to the U.S. 4 years ago without knowing any English. So, with a lot of studying, I have been trying to play a “catch up” game with all my peers. Also, I am very independent and I adapt very well to new situations. Because of my mom’s job, I’ve lived in 3 countries and I went to 6 different schools already. I do have a lot of personal stories: growing up without father, experiencing poverty, discrimination(because I was a minority) etc…

I haven’t taken SAT’s yet. I will be taking them on December. I am hoping for more than 2100, but I can’t be sure.

Please tell me about me chances. It would mean a lot to me!!
